Plugins for recording vocals

Sun Aug 02, 2020 6:15 am

Hello,

I’m having trouble getting the sound that I want when recording vocals. I’m using a Shure SM27 hooked up to a PreSonus Audiobox audio interface (idk if that matters) I’ve figure out how to get sufficient volume out of the mic but for some reason no matter what plugins I use it always sounds like I’m muffled or talking through a tube. I’m trying to save some general plugins so I can just put them on every vocal track. Any suggestions?

I don't know what you're doing with the mic, but that Shure SM27 normally sounds like this when talking:

sounds more like you're using the wrong side of a cardioid pattern microphone. Make sure you have phantom power turned on, and that you are speaking/singing into the side of the microphone that says "Shure".

Oh, yeah, make sure you have the 15 dB pad dis-engaged
