Alex Banks
Hi, I'm on 10.15. I had a problem with 10.15.1 not seeing auth iLok software... I'm looking for some help with a problem I'm having with the new sampler. It's when I slice a breakbeat using slice at Flex markers and then convert resulting slices to a new sampler instrument. The sampler adds a fade in and a fade out to every slice. I have to manually remove this fade in/out for every sample. Is there a way to either not have these fade as default or edit all keygroups as one? Thanks in advance, Alexander
Alex Banks
This is what I get. Every sample group has a little attack and release. I need to get rid of this! Cheers
Solution David Nahmani Posted July 31, 2020 Solution Share Posted July 31, 2020 Have you tried dragging the samples to the track header to create the sampler instrument ?
Alex Banks
I just tried it and it doesn't add fades, thank you for that. Also, it doesn't give you the MIDI file, which is a shame! I guess I can convert it the original way as well and use that MIDI data. Bit of a faff really! It would be great to be able to edit all keygroups as one... or not have the fades... Thanks for your help, David.
David Nahmani
Also, it doesn't give you the MIDI file, which is a shame! I guess I can convert it the original way as well and use that MIDI data. You can drag it by dragging from the bottom part of the waveform display onto the track in the Tracks area.
Alex Banks
You can drag it by dragging from the bottom part of the waveform display onto the track in the Tracks area. Sorry, I don't understand what you mean! I did try a few combinations, but nothing that produced a MIDI file... Thanks
David Nahmani
Sorry, I don't understand what you mean! I did try a few combinations, but nothing that produced a MIDI file... First make sure you're in SLICE mode, then...:
Alex Banks
Hey David, thank you again. I like that way, it solves a few problems nicely! Cheers.

dreamwebspace
So the problem is in Sampler and solution is to use Quick Sampler instead?
Alex Banks
Nope. The Solution in the GIF that David Nahmani posted is the solution. Cheers!
dreamwebspace
But in GIF there is Quick Sampler. Sampler doesn't have SLICE mode
David Nahmani
But in GIF there is Quick Sampler. Sampler doesn't have SLICE mode You're correct: that option exists only in Quick Sampler, not in Sampler.
dreamwebspace
I'm switching to Logic from Ableton because 'Logic is more configurable'. Sadly it's quite the opposite. Thanks for reply.
David Nahmani
You're welcome. I suppose it's more configurable on some fronts, not all.
dreamwebspace
True. Overwhelmingly configurable
hubavai
Very useful thing here about dropping the MIDI file … this might solve my problem. When I right click an audio file it gives the option ‘create new sampler track’. Is there a way to default it to Quick Sampler instead of the Multi? zackfalls
On this same topic, is there a way to quickly add fades to all of the samples in a sampler instrument? Thanks!
