Delay compensation for automation recorded live with control surface

Hi folks,

When I'm recording automation in with a control surface it's being written late. For example; I do some delay throws in time but the recorded automation is not where it should be and what gets recorded is late compared to what I heard when I performed the automation. I should mention that this is an almost final mix with tons of processing where latency is going to be very high. I want to do some throws and fader rides using my control surface to finish off the mix but the (apparent) lack of compensation for the automation renders a control surface useless for this (or so it would seem!).

Is anyone else experiencing this issue or am I missing something obvious?

Surely live automation should be compensated just as an audio recording would be so that it lines up where it should in the track?
