Very basic drum question

Sun Sep 06, 2020 5:40 pm

I've not done any work with drums yet, as this question will clearly show you.

I'm trying to create a very simple drum sound, which you can hear at this link:

I have no idea how to start... I know it has to be simple.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

Is it about the sound, or about the rythm/break? Your qyestion is a tad unclear to me. In that example I hear conga's, so look for a percussion set in Sampler/EXS24 or Ultrabeat.
Or are you trying to "make" this sound using a synth?

I'm trying to create this drum pattern for another song I'm working on. I'll see if I can find a suitable instrument. I did not recognize this as a conga - my first mistake it seems... I'm sure there will be plenty more. Thank you.

Yeah ... I only heard "a grand total of two seconds of actual audio."

(However: it sounded "anything but 'basic!'") :D

LOL... I was only looking for the conga drum sound and since this is from a commercially produced song I didn't want to post more of the song. I'm headed in the right direction now and have something reasonably close in my current mix. I may refine it later, but the singer loves it so I'm on the right track (sic).
