Darug
Hi, this is what I previously posted on the Apple forumhttps://discussions.apple.com/thread/252935060, without any response:- 1.My MB Air Mid 2013 was starting to struggle with my Mainstage file, so I decided to purchase a new M1 MAcbook Pro 8/512. I have downloaded all the sounds, patches etc however , not long after the file loads MS stops, then I get the below Problem Report. The file loads fine on my Catalina iMac, but obviously to big and awkward to take to practice. I have read MS 3.4.4 works with Big Sur, Otherwise, I will have to start programming my Patch file from 'scratch' (I have copied the layout from another machine). 2. Error - abort() called MainStage 3(13583,0x10499bd40) malloc: *** error for object 0x130b94310: pointer being freed was not allocated I have searched this but so far no Luck. In the Interim, I have managed to find Mainstage 3.4.4, after seeing that other users had issues. So far no issues, with 3.4.4. However, Apple Devs, please study the countless crash reports that have been sent by me, and fix the issue? 3I did a fresh wipe of the MB, and a fresh download from the Apple store. The issue seems to occur after installation of the Hammond B-3X Organ Plug In from Native Instruments. Ironically it ran fine on a Mid 2013 MB Air (though it stated to slow/hang), and perfectly on a desktop build. It started crashing again, and it wasn't until I loaded an older concert (Pre-Hammond), that it worked again. It also said the Add-on failed validation. The only was I was able to get round is what start Patch File over again, and remove the Hammond Organ, which is a real shame as the sounds were great. I'm still waiting on a response from IK Multimedia (Not Native Instruments)
Atlas007
I could only assert what you most likely know already: make sure to use plugins that is up to date and compatible with the new M1 chip...
Maddcow
As per what Atlas007 has said: it seems to me the issue is that IK hasn't updated their product for the M1 chip, and that's not Apple's problem. And based on my experiences with IK, I wouldn't hold your breath on them fixing this problem quickly.
facej
I have had no problems with the IK software running in Rosetta in Logic on my M1 MBA... Have you tried setting MainStage to run using Rosetta?
Darug
Not yet. I was watching a YT video on it, so I'll check it out. Otherwise I'll hit IK up for a refund, given the issues I had with my Stomp I/O I find MacOs a bit complicated, compared to Windows, though I did build and setup my own MacOs/Windows system using a Ryzen 7 Processor, last year (though I have dabbled with Linux a bit over the years with Raspberry Pi's. For those Newbs like me, here is a link on how to do it. https://osxdaily.com/2020/12/04/how-install-rosetta-2-apple-silicon-mac/, plus here is some more reading.https://www.pro-tools-expert.com/logic-pro-expert/missing-waves-plugins-on-m1-mac-waves-studio-rack-might-just-offer-a-workaround and here
Darug
As per what Atlas007 has said: it seems to me the issue is that IK hasn't updated their product for the M1 chip, and that's not Apple's problem. And based on my experiences with IK, I wouldn't hold your breath on them fixing this problem quickly. I made a post on IK's forum, and the comment was Hammond B-3X works on M1 Macs (as do all products in the Total Studio 3 MAX bundle). Please report your issue to IK Support and note that wish list threads are not for support/technical issues. https://www.logicprohelp.com/posting.php?f=17&mode=quote&p=834543
