David Nahmani
Yes, different pan laws affect mono summing in different ways. Why are you trying to sum to mono, is there a specific issue you're trying to resolve, a problem you want to fix? Any other reason? Also: how do you sum to mono? And which pan law are you using? The default one? Generally you mix in stereo and balance your levels in stereo, then check for mono compatibility, meaning make sure the mix doesn't sound completely different when summed to mono. If an instrument disappear in the mono mix then that means its phase isn't coherent in the stereo mix so you can fix that at the source, or by checking whether an Audio FX plug-in may have created that phase inversion, etc. Or you insert a Gain plug-in and invert the polarity of only the L or R signal from the stereo instrument.
