MikeRobinson
My MacBook Pro came with a USB-C headphone adapter – nothing but a USB plug and a female small RCA-jack connected by a two-inch length of wire. But, when I plug it in, nothing happens. Particularly, in the Sound control-panel, it doesn't show up as a "Sound Output." And, indeed, I don't hear sound when I plug my headphones into it. Am I missing something, or is it just that the damned thing doesn't work? (There's a tiny black dot on the port end, next to the cord, which I'm guessing is a "pilot light." Well, it doesn't light up ... (The port is known-good, etc.) P.S.: There's also an audio-jack on the computer itself. To my great surprise, it doesn't seem to work either . . . David Nahmani
That sounds like an el-cheapo junk device? I wouldn't waste my time with it. If you have an audio interface, connect your headphones to it. Was it a used Mac? Maybe the built-in headphone outs was busted so they included that thing with it which worked for a while... but no longer does.
