Can anyone recommend a TB3 dock that can run an interface AND an external SSD?

Recommended Posts

As the subject suggests, I'm looking for a TB3 dock that will allow me to run an interface AND an external SSD at the same time. I'm sorry if this is dumb question, but I haven't been able to confirm that this is even possible.

I've got a refurbished 2016 MacBook Pro (256g, 8g RAM, 2 TB3 ports). Looking to run the interface and external SSD on one port and still be able to charge on the other.

Anyone know if there are docks that can do this?

Thanks so much for any direction on this.

I am using the OWC TB3 dock with my iMac. Got the TB3 dock before I got the Mac, used my old 2013 model with it.

Connected to the dock (which has .5m TB cable - fast)

USB3 SSD with sound libraries, applications, etc. Bootable - can drive my laptop ;-)

USB3 Carbon Copy Cloner target disk for backups

USB3 Music disk containing iTunes media and my primary "master tape" archive

USB3 Hub which connects

iLok

iPad (Lightning)

MONITOR2USB - monitor controller and USB audio interface (output)

XR18 mixer

I had placed my X-Touch on the USB hub as well, but have been having a few issues, so it's plugged straight into the iMac right now.

It has been running just fine. I was going to get a Mac mini and use it, but the iMac got to the right price.

The OWC dock will charge your MacBook Pro. Only one cable needed.

Thank you! So happy to know there's a solution.
