Analog 4-track to Logic Pro X Questions...

Recommended Posts

Hi you guys.... I have some questions for you....

I still have my Tascam Porta One 4-track recorder I used when I got started on all this multitracking. I would like to rescue several of my songs I did back then and transfer them to Logic to get the best mix I can. My questions are HOW?

Gear:

1. The Porta One 4-track recorder

2. Focusrite 2i2 Digital interface: (Only 2 Inputs though)

3. MAC PRO with Logic Pro X

To me it would seem like .... Ideally, You would go from the 4-Tascam (Tape Outs) to a digital interface then into the computer via a 4 track interface. I do have a Focusrite 2i2 Digital interface: (Only 2 Inputs though) The Cables would be RCA to Stereo Phono plugs right? Is there a less expensive 4 track interface out there for this? Under $100?

Anyway, I have attached several jpegs to visually show you what I have going on.

Any guidance?

Sincerely,

Reesche

I'm with Jim to a point; just go with your Plan A as you suggested, it'll just take double the passes. Also, there are a few interfaces out there with 4 XLRs (Behringer has one for around $150), but you really have all you need to get the job done. The cables you asked about are the ones you need but don't skimp on those if you can help it.

I'd like to hear that once you're done - I'm a pretty big Thomas Dolby fan...
