It's just convolution, they sound as good as the impulse responses you load into them

There's plugins certainly allowing for easier/quicker IR loading, which is rather important in case you want to scroll through what usually is an almost endless pile of cab IRs.
Two free ones come to my mind: Pulse from Rosen Digital Audio and LeCab from LePou.
https://www.rosendigitalaudio.com/pulse/
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1BFov ... x0VTQ/view
(the last being a direct download link, for more info check https://lepouplugins.blogspot.com/)

Pulse allows for A/Bing between two IRs, LeCab loads up to 8 IRs simultaneously.

Fwiw, if you move song files between computers a lot, Space Designer might be a better choice, though - as it allows you to save the IRs within the project folder/package.
And btw, some people don't seem to be aware of it, but you can drag and drop IRs to SD straight from Finder. Just make sure to set the mix to 100% wet.
I wish it had a sample loading function similar to Ultrabeat, allowing you to prelisten to samples in context before you actually load them.

Excellent many thanks gives me options , I have lots of IR's 90% from ownhamer as wav files . So sometimes the whole searching for the "right" IR can be tedious.
My main goal is to create tones to use when playing my guitar through my scarlet interface into main stage.
Any other thoughts that may compliment this would be greatly appreciated.

What are you using as an amp sim right now? Have you tried the demo of S-Gear? It's a pretty complete amp sim that might save you from the IR rabbit hole. IMO the best sounding one out of those I tried. The Logic amps really don't make it (apart from some tweed models that are ok-ish) and they are the noisiest amp sims I've ever stumbled upon, which makes any gainier stuff pretty impossible to achieve.

One of the amp sims i most like is BIAS Amp. Very tweakable too.

Out of logic i only really like "Boutique Retro" model.

if you're looking for freebies, this one is also guitar dedicated and has an IR loader:

For all sorts of freebies, check kvraudio.
As far as BIAS amps and stuff goes, IMO that company does everything as wrong as it gets (the amp sims are sounding good, though). Their license model is awkward, to say the least. Squeezing every ounce of money out of you. Probably learned that from Apple...

Fwiw, this here is quite decent for freeware:
https://www.bluecataudio.com/Products/Product_FreeAmp/
Unfortunately you can't turn the cab sim off and use your own IRs, that'd make it a lot better. But then, it's free.

Yeah i agree. thats why i didnt buy it. Tried the demo and it was super-fun fiddling with it.

What i like about voxengo is that you can load your own IRs, and preamp section is still decent.

For my purposes, Amp Designer is fine, and when its not and i cant use the real thing, I use a home-made IR of Mesa Boogie Mark V :)

These freebies are also surprisingly good sounding. I only use LeGion

Re: Impulse response vat pluggin  Topic is solved

Fwiw, I have *zero* of an idea why this has slipped my attention so far, but I'm fooling around with the free plugins from Ignite Amps pretty much all day.
They have two stomp boxes, two preamps, one full amp (the amps all featuring multiple channels) and a zero latency IR loader. In a nutshell: Everything you need for bread and butter. And they're sounding friggin' excellent IMO. The guy is more or less promoting them for heavier stuff, but all of the amps are extremely versatile and cover pretty much anything you might be asking for, especially when you combine them with quality IRs.
Bottomline: Highly recommended!

What do you mean with "Danny special"?
I think they're very versatile and I can get pretty much any sounds out of them, from funky and jazzy cleans, to bluesy grit and heavy crunch and leads.
Here's a pretty typical signal chain:

LOL autocorrect on mobile phone strikes again, what I meant to say was " pretty damn special " which was me being polite for friggin hell they're awesome ,
Totally blown away with the initial impression of how realistic they are compare to the other sims I have been using not mentioning names to protect the inocent who need people to pay there wages.

More time will be spent on the ignite amp sims thats for sure as well as trying out the other suggestions

BTW I found that T-screamer a few months ago and use it a lot, but for last night I just used the same as you but with ignite tube screamer stomp varient

cheers

Quick note: As I'm still in the process of organizing the disk/file structure of this Mac Pro, I moved a project containing some IRs loaded through NadIR. The IR slots turned up to be empty - for obvious reasons perhaps, and I certainly won't complain ad it's free, but if it was a professional product, there should be an "IR file not found, search?" option as on, say, software samplers. As is, you can basically never move a project, because even if you reopen it from the same place, while the IR will be loaded, the path-memory is gonna be lost, so there's no way to manually reload things, either (NadIR it doesn't display the loaded filenames).
Will be having a look whether others are doing it the same, otherwise it's back to Space Designer.

Yeah, it's easy to get lost in all these.
And to make things even harder, here's yet another free one I like quite a bit:
https://www.kuassa.com/products/amplifikation-lite/
Works fine as is but starts to shine once you switch the cab off and use some of your favourite IRs instead. Seems to work pretty well with pedals. Fwiw, there's a free supposed-to-be TS clone from Mercuriall that fortunately doesn't sound all that much like an original TS (I own one, never liked it...):
https://mercuriall.com/cms/details_freestuff - the other freebies there are quite nice, too.
