deckard1
Is it at all possible to automate presets for native or third party plugins (e.g. virtual instruments) within Logic X? Or, does each plugin preset have to have it's own respective track? I would imagine for virtual instruments Logic needs 'time' to load the different preset samples. Thanks. skijumptoes
Yeah, if the plugin supports program change messages you can do it that way, or else the preset change buttons may be automatable too on some plugins - i would opt for the program change method if available though. David Nahmani
It's possible (you can use performances, see "Save a channel strip setting as a performance" at the bottom of the page: http://help.apple.com/logicpro/mac/10.3/#/lgcp35966da6), but it's rare when a preset change is immediate. If that's an issue, I recommend using two (or more) tracks instead: Create selective delay effects on vocals (and beyond)
skijumptoes
How do you route program change messages on that track to the channel strip then? Didn't know you could do that. Edit: Apologies, just seen, you have to save as a performance. That's very interesting, thanks David! Edit 2: Also, (For reference) Looks like you need to be sending program changes on Midi Channel 1 for this to work. d'oh!

You'd have to use track automation to lower one track as you raise another.
