el-bo
EDIT: Just realised that I have posted this in the wrong section instead of the samsung 840/850? I am now at the point of ordering an ssd, and it seems that the ultra is 'almost' at 850 performance levels, but at a lower price. I kind of have in mind to buy the ultra as the system drive, and get a separate 850 (possibly pro) as the record/project drive Anyone have any experience with both drives? Cheers! Eric Cardenas
I have some experience with previous Sandisk models. They are ok. Probably not the same performance in real tests as the 850 but it really doesn't matter much at all for audio purposes.
el-bo
Thanks! I was thinking of getting the sandisk as the boot/samples drive, and an 850 for recording. Are you suggesting the sandisk would be fine for recording, also? Maybe not as good for the boot? I had a discussion recently with someone who mentioned that a 2nd audio drive is still important, despite being able to record to an ssd system drive. He also suggested that the 850 pro is the only worthwhile audio drive, but I couldn't get much out of him as to why. I believe he is talking about the constant write/delete of audio drives can take it's toll
