Issues with Q-flam

Hello all,

I recently discovered the Q-flam feature, and I want to use it to create some ascending harp rolls. However, my Q-flam is producing Descending rolls when I use either positive or negative Q-flam settings (please, see attached pic's). Has anyone run into this before? How can I fix it?

Thanks!

Chris

Thanks! Well... I can't reproduce here. However, the thing that strikes me is that you're using a swing quantize on top of your flam, not sure if that's intentional or not.

• Does the problem disappear if you quantize to straight 1/8th?

• Does the region start on an absolute bar number (as in X 1 1 1)?

FYI here are my results in Logic Pro 9.0.2 on OS 10.5.8:

Interesting...

The MIDI region I was using was a merge of a few different regions. The region may have started on an upbeat previously, but now it doesn't. This particular region does not respond correctly when I try your two suggestions. However, I recorded some new material, and it works fine. It seems to me like it must've been an issue with that particular region, and not an issue with my file overall.

I think I'm good from here. Thanks for the reply!

Chris

By curiosity, why do you still use v.9.0.2 instead of the latest Logic version (9.1.7)?

I own many Macs, most outfitted with various versions of OS X and various versions of Logic Express and Pro. I just happened to be on that machine running that particular version at that particular time of the day. Right now I'm typing this from another machine that has Leopard, Snow Leopard and Lion on various volumes, with 5 different versions of Logic Express and 7 different versions of Logic Pro.

  • 9 years later...
For what it's worth (considering the original post was 9 years ago) I just had the same problem. Looking at the notes in the event list they were different MIDI channels. (As they were in the original post) Once I changed them to the same channel the feature worked as expected.

WOW! Thank you so much! You just resolved a 9 year old issue. This could definitely help many other users with the same issue now or in the future, so thanks for taking the time to add that here. :D
