Blakice
Hello, if someone has an idea to solve this one that would be amazing. So I have a similar situation to many others. Powerful MacBook Pro (16 RAM 50-60 GB storage available) and all audio prefs set to give the most buffer. Running Big Sur and Logic 10.7. All stems overload and is usually progressive. The beginning of the session is OK then about 15 min in overloads come quicker and quicker. It doesn’t overload when using logic only sounds. For my instruments I use Nexus, Native Instruments and Sykenth. Doesn’t matter which 3rd party I use, still overloads. All sound libraries for Native Instruments are on an external drive. Didn’t have this problems before. Could a hot Mac cause this. My drive temp is about 60 C and the fan is constantly on.
sunbrother
Perhaps something is running in the background of your computer that wasn’t before. Dropbox, iCloud Drive, etc.
Blakice
Thanks for that. I do have iCloud, however I’m pretty sure it’s been closed when it has happened. On my activity monitor Logic is the only app running with any substantial usage. Everything else is less than 2 or 3 percent.
triplets
Is the CPU or I/O meter peaking?
Blakice
So an update here. I only get an overload CPU when using Native Instruments. All the sound libraries are on a Mac journaled external drive. Just one instance of a sound from native instruments will cause the overload. I/O meter shows almost nothing will all 8 CPU bars peak. triplets
Yup, Native Instruments stuff can bring any computer to a halt.
