Josh.Cancon
Is there any way in Logic or using a 3rd party plug-in/app to monitor how much CPU usage each plug-in is using in a project?
des99
Not really, just mute everything except that plugin and watch the CPU monitor. As you get to know your tools, you get feel for how "heavy" the plugins you use are over time.
fuzzfilth
You could set up an exaggerated test to quickly get some good hints. Pile up 10 EQs in a channel and check the load that this causes. Set up another channel with 10 ChromaVerbs. You get the idea. You will find that mundane things like EQ, compressor, distortion don't need much CPU, whereas more complex stuff like algorithmic or IR reverbs and pitch correction can eat up a lot of it quickly, with delays and modulation fx covering the middle ground.
