Copy/Paste Velocity Patterns, but NOT notes?

The velocity value is an attribute of the Note event, they're not separable.Which makes what you're asking not possible — at least not without some kind of trickery and I can't think of anything at the moment (perhaps with a Transformer in the environment but that would require re-recording the notes).

Yeah... that was my concern...

I feel like other DAWs can do something like this? I know Cubase can do velocity ramps while maintaining ratios, for instance (not exactly the same but still some trickery). Would be cool if Logic could implement something for this, but I understand the complication.

Hi

Is this possible? I have a super long string run of 16th notes and I want a nice descending velocity pattern that resets on each downbeat. Is it possible to apply this to a pre-recorded run of MIDI?

You can do this using Groove templates:

Make a groove template of the original region.

Apply that template to the target region, with Q velocity set to 127 ( or whatever), with or without timing Q
