jaydude
Hi, I am running is this behaviour all the time. When changing Region Automation Volume, all later (and untouched) regions change volume as well. I would like to have only the region I change to change. (That's what region automation is for...) Is there a setting to change this behaviour? Or maybe a different way of thinking, so I can live with it Thanks for any guidance!
fuzzfilth
Here's how it works: Region Automation determines the position of the fader. If the fader position is not where you want it, use Region Automation to change it.
jaydude
I found the solution - it was quite ehm logic... When the Region Automation curve is dragged with the Alt-key down, the next regions are not changed!

I hardly use the faders to edit Automation.
fuzzfilth
When the Region Automation curve is dragged with the Alt-key down, the next regions are not changed! I suggest you try that again with some extreme settings to see if that really is the case... In my world Automation is the curve. Yes, it is. And it is directly connected to the Fader which in turn changes the volume. I hardly use the faders to edit Automation. Which isn't relevant. You can write automation from the faders or in "the curve" and the result will be the same, the Automation line controls the fader, the fader controls the volume. Still, your issue boils down to this: If and only if there is an Automation point in either Region- or Track-Based Automation, it will change the target parameter. This means, if Region C has no Automation in it, it will play at whatever level had been set preceding it either by Track Automation or by Region Automation in Region A and/or Region B. To restore the volume after a change, set an automation point in the following Region, like this:
David Nahmani
Set whatever default volume you want for the track (such as 0 dB for example) as Track automation. Now any Region automation you create affects only that region, and any region that doesn't have region automation plays back at 0 dB. fuzzfilth
A very good idea.
