Smudge66
Hi, I have used Logic X for years but I am not an expert with computers etc. Every time I hit record on a midi track with a 1 bar count in it starts recording straight away rather than after the 1 bar. Does anyone know how to solve this as it is driving me crazy. I do not do anything complicated and it is normally drums that I program. It is not doing it when i record audio. I have a 2017 iMac and logic pro x. thanks in advance if anyone responds.
Atlas007
Ensure that those count-in options are set properly...
David Nahmani
It's just Logic's default behavior. To avoid it you can click the track with the Marquee tool where you want to start recording, then press R.
Smudge66
Thanks David, I will try that but it never used to do it until last week. The count in options are ok i think, can you set them to record when you have a 1 bar count in? thanks Rob
Gravity Jim
I'm confused... are you saying that Logic fails to give you a count in, or that you want to record data during the count-in?
enossified
To Smudge: Sometimes I'll accidentally play a note during the count-in just a hair before the 1st bar. With most MIDI sequencers I'll end up with the note not being recorded. With Logic, the note gets recorded but in the piano roll it shows the start of the note being early so on playback the note doesn't sound (which makes sense). If I shift or quantize the note so that it starts at the top of the bar, then it plays fine. Is this the behavior you are asking about? David Nahmani
it never used to do it until last week. Well that's odd I'm on 10.4.4 and it behaves that way you described in your original post.
