mkdub
Sorry, newbie question #100... Where do I see how long my track is, in actual real time, minutes/seconds, whatever? It's right under my nose and I'm missing it. Thank you... Edited September 30, 2013 by mkdub
Atlas007
The track length correspond to the project length. The End marker position could provide that information, if the display format is set to time (instead of bars/beats...) Check in the Control bar LCD.. If you wish to get that infirmation about a specific region I would go in the List Editor at the region level. Again the display format set to time should help you do some calculation... TBPlayer
Click on the "View" menu that you can see in your screenshot and select "Secondary Ruler"
David Nahmani
Or click on the icons to the left of the LCD dislpay and choose custom. The top left display is the playhead position in hours, minutes, seconds (and video frames - ignore that). Note that the song starts at 1 hour. So when the playhead position says 1:02:58:00, you're 2mn 58s into the song.
GTR
"click on the icons to the left of the LCD dislpay and choose custom." OK, and then what? How can I know the length of the song?
blinkofani
"click on the icons to the left of the LCD dislpay and choose custom." OK, and then what? How can I know the length of the song? Bring your playhead to the end of the last region(s) and the display will tell you how long your song is, minus 1 hour as David mentioned. GTR
What is the last regions? I googled logic regions and it looks like an audio clip qualifies as one [1] I clicked on an audio click at the end of the project. The display did not tell me how long the song is, minus one hour (that would be very unintuitive, too!). The display did not tell me how long the song is, minus one hour (that would be very unintuitive, too!). First, make sure you click the little down-arrow icon to the right in the LCD display and choose Custom: The Custom LCD display shows the playhead position time in SMPTE timecode units (hours:minutes:seconds:frames.subframes), starting at one hour at the beginning of the song, which is the standard for SMPTE time. Here's an example of a 2 mn 26 second long song:
GTR
Huh. Well, I have custom and it doesn't show me that. How do you read that? Two hours, twenty six minutes, 11.61 seconds?
David Nahmani
Huh. Well, I have custom and it doesn't show me that. Can you share a screenshot? How to attach files to your post How do you read that? Two hours, twenty six minutes, 11.61 seconds? No. SMPTE timecode units (hours:minutes:seconds:frames.subframes) so that's 1 hour, 2 minutes, 26 seconds, 11 frames and 61 subframes. David Nahmani
Click that same arrow and choose Customize Control Bar and Display then in the LCD column, select "Positions (Time/Beat)".

David Nahmani
Says my song is 1 hour, 1 min, 31 sec? That's not right. We're running in circles here?? Go back to your original question and read my answers again.
GTR
My original question: "How can I know the length of the song?". The time displayed is not the correct length of my song. Not even if I subtract an hour. Yeah, it's frustrating.
David Nahmani
Not even if I subtract an hour. What if you subtract a little less?

David Nahmani
I'm playing with you my friend. It sounded like you were playing with me too? What if you put your playhead at the beginning of your song, what do you see?

Eriksimon
Have you set the playhead exactly where the song ends? And what does it read when you set it where the song starts? The difference between these is your song length.
GTR
Start 00:59:30:22.57 End 01:03:09:12.33 Start: -30s End: 3min, 9sec Total 3:39. Exported as MP3, Music app says it's 3:41, so that's pretty close. OK.
David Nahmani
Start 00:59:30:22.57 I'm not sure why your song doesn't start at 1 hour (which is the default) but you can change that in File > Project Settings > Synchronization. You can even enable the SMPTE View Offset to avoid having to subtract 1 hour.
Atlas007
Start 00:59:30:22.57 I'm not sure why your song doesn't start at 1 hour... If it happened that you recorded anything before 1.1.1.1., I would recommend moving all of what was recorded to 1.1.1.1. or after. Logic is known to behave strangely when dealing with project that contains anything before 1.1.1.1.
