The very first DAW I ever used was a thing called Project5 from Cakewalk (remember Sonar?). It had a really similar thing where you could drag cells into the Arrange area. I loved it. The update is a very similar workflow but WAAYYYYY better.

For an old DAW, that looks quite elegant.

Re: Logic Pro Plugin Search Application

Perhaps pertinent details from that thread still apply, but I think the whole process has been changed enough to justify removing that thread, or at least having the developer return to update it. :) That's correct. The old thread describes the process when using a (rather basic) Keyboard Maestro m...

Re: Logic Pro Plugin Search Application

Yup! :D => https://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=142505 Thanks! I actually did perform a search (By the app name). The thread you linked to seems to be pre-app, in that it relies on having extra 3rd-part software for it to work. Now the app is standalone, so no need to spend th...

Logic Pro Plugin Search Application

Edit: **Catalina Not Supported!!** Trying the demo, and it seems to be a winner. The only slight hassle is that it only works on an empty slot (The current modifier switches off the plugin, otherwise), so you have to remove the 'current' plug before conducting another search. $15, to buy. 14-day de...

Re: omnisphere... opinions?

I personally believe sound design is just as part of musical composing process as writing the actual note is, and scrolling through 14000 presets is like throwing together something from MIDI loops It's so true!! Just like all those losers who don't grow their own food, make their own clothes, desi...

Re: Black Friday Oopsie

Bought Thorn (DS/PA) synth, Komplete M32 keyboard with Komplete12. Also, a few little libraries from Soundiron, and Mallet Flux (Sonuscore/NI).

More money than I've invested in music-production, in a while. Now I just have to work out what to do with it all :)

Re: Soundflower not working anymore???

Soundflower is no longer being developed or supported, so it was only a matter of time before issues started to arise. There is a new, free alternative. Not tried it yet, but worth exploring: https://cdm.link/2019/10/blackhole-mac-soundflower-alternative-catalina/ Let us know if it works out :) Jus...

Re: Slate Digital Plugins - Are They Overated or Are My Ears Just Not Sharp Enough?

A lot of the reason for people to choose plugins has to with workflow and inspiration. Even just having a slick gui can inspire use. But in terms of workflow, often these plugins model equipment that was designed to offer very specific broad-stroke movements, with specific curves, around very specif...

Re: Mid-2012 Macbook Cloning HDD to SSD

Hey Guys, I have a mid 2012 Macbook running Yosemite and Logic Pro 9. Considering swapping out my HDD to a SSD and just had a couple questions. It seems like cloning the HDD is the best option but was wondering how this will effect licenses / installation of 3rd party plugins. For instance, I use S...

Re: Why the 3rd Party Plugins hype?

I just find it funny what people expect from a professional software product that’s only 199. Not to be that guy, but it's only 199 because we need to buy over-priced hardware to use it  Anyway, to clarify: I think Logic Pro represents tremendous value, and think it's a great product. The inc...

Re: Why the 3rd Party Plugins hype?

It really isn't  Logic's 'Drummer' is a very convenient way to lay down a drum track, with some really cool features for providing variety etc. However, it doesn't come close to 3rd party drum sample libraries on the scale of SD3, BFD3, or even EZdrumme, with regard to detailed dynamics, roun...

Re: Why the 3rd Party Plugins hype?

Superior Drummer 3 has a massive drum library (over 200gb), but Logics Drum Kit Designer is just as good in the sound department. It really isn't  Logic's 'Drummer' is a very convenient way to lay down a drum track, with some really cool features for providing variety etc. However, it doesn't...

Re: Anyone using Sandisk ultra ii?

Thanks! I was thinking of getting the sandisk as the boot/samples drive, and an 850 for recording. Are you suggesting the sandisk would be fine for recording, also? Maybe not as good for the boot? I had a discussion recently with someone who mentioned that a 2nd audio drive is still important, despi...

Anyone using Sandisk ultra ii?

EDIT: Just realised that I have posted this in the wrong section   instead of the samsung 840/850? I am now at the point of ordering an ssd, and it seems that the ultra is 'almost' at 850 performance levels, but at a lower price. I kind of have in mind to buy the ultra as the system dr...

You need to know how much the drive is drawing vs how much the powered-hub can supply. Keep in mind that the hub's power will be divided by the number of ports

Re: SSD Configuration Preferences

I don't understand why you'd need to put sample libraries on a separate drive to the os, logic etc., unless it's a space/organisation consideration. Surely everything that would be running off the system drive from a session would have already been loaded into memory.
