Re: Duplicating MIDI track with regions in tact Topic is solved

I had forgotten about the option-drag technique but did locate the key command. Soon after posting, I noticed the more efficient solution, so removed my post. Option-drag is more reflexive and immediate vs. a ham-fisted key command. :)

Re: Novation SL MKII

I stopped using Automap with my SL MKll some time ago. Two templates I set up work as intended - one for CC assigned to an external sound module, and the other assigned to Smart Controls.

Honestly i'd much prefer a simpler standalone sampler without all the crap that's in Alchemy. Update EXS, with waveform views and more intuitive building.

Yes! Fortify the EXS24 a bit here and there.

I don't see Alchemy as a replacement for the EXS24.

Re: Does the competition have an influence on Apple Logic pro updates?

Presonus polyphonic detection is really good on their chord algorithms too! I do prefer Cubase's implementation as a tool though, it seems better for sitting down and composing if you know your direction, whereas Studio Ones implementation is much stronger for adjusting what you have already got. F...

Dewdman2,

Thanks for posting this information.
Let the numbers do the talking.

I'll post an Energy Impact comparison of LPX, C10, and DP10 this weekend.

Re: Does the competition have an influence on Apple Logic pro updates?

After 12 years of Logic, Cubase Pro is a bit clunky and unintuitive, I find. I wouldn't have gone for it had it not been 50% off. I also don't like the obviously 'ported from Windows' look, but I suppose I will adapt. It seems to have most of the features I am familiar with in Logic (though my know...

Re: Do the competition has an influence on Apple Logic pro updates?

. What i disagreed with was that Win 10 is fraught with stability issues, 'surprises' and becomes a crapshoot for diagnosing issues - my entire point here is that it's no different than Logic and Mac in regards to stability and/or other issues - and your experience has also proven that. Sometimes, ...

Re: Anyone using Faderport 16?

I don't have FP16 but I do have the single fader version of FaderPort 2018. The case is metal with a logical arrangement of buttons and transport controls. Manual setup in Logic's Control Surface Setup was not required, it alway already configured when I used it for the first time. Interaction with ...

Re: Do the competition has an influence on Apple Logic pro updates?

I seriously investigated a move to Windows including purchase of a Custom PC for Cubase. Almost clicked purchase more than a few times. A primer for the curious is this thread at Gearslutz: “dont buy cubase 10 its not stable”. Summary: "It works great” and “There are issues”. This statement is...

Re: Studio Strings staccato bug

Hello,

With a setup as described above, piziccato does create an extra note like a flam or grace note leading into the first note. The second notes ends as expected.
No extra notes are heard with staccato or spiccato.

For recorded MIDI notes, select notes in either the piano roll or event list. Two options for the next step: 1. In the Piano Roll, right-click on one of the selected notes to select Articulations>your choice, or 2. In the Event list with the Articulation column visible, click on the articulation fie...

Re: Do the competition has an influence on Apple Logic pro updates?

I also disagree with that - particularly if you're suggesting that MacOS doesn't have such surprises. From an audio viewpoint i'm far more hesitant to upgrade MacOS than windows*, because Apple have a history of changing the base foundations AND raising the minimum spec with each OS release, causin...

Re: Do the competition has an influence on Apple Logic pro updates?

I've been running Win 10 since end of Feb for Audio, Application Development and Video Editing and i've not had one single crash or oddity occur - it's been flawless. I was expecting to hate the experience as i've been in the Apple eco system for so many years. But it's been a pleasure, and i'm rea...

Re: Do the competition has an influence on Apple Logic pro updates?

Some things to consider: - CPU efficiency of Logic vs. Cubase on Mac: Logic is clearly the winner although performance of Cubase has improved around v9 or 9.5. The other Activity Monitor parameter to consider is Energy Impact : Cubase on Mac is a resource hog! - As an observer, Cubase on Mac is less...

Re: SampleTank4 - 15 MIDI channels - one instance desired

Here's the way I approach multi-timbral, mulit-output instruments: - Instantiate a multi-output instrument. Enter 1 for Multi-timbral and 1 for Number of Tracks. This results in one instrument track in the tracks area and one instrument channel strip in the mixer. - In the mixer, click the (+) butto...

Re: Why the 3rd Party Plugins hype?

This is a great thread! Back in the day, getting a Tascam Porta One unleashed my creative storm. I dreamed of getting a Tascam 388 but realized I couldn't afford to feed it (buy analog tape on an ongoing basis). This lead to learning how to tape-sync an Alexis HR-16 to a Fostex 260 double-speed cass...
