  1. Sadly, I have no idea what recording software he uses though I’ve asked a few times. We are on different continents and he’s not the best communicator. I just selected my two tracks and then did File | Export | Two Regions as Audio Files - and sent those to him. The export process kept that 112 Bar space on the second track - so … fingers crossed. Thanks!
  2. Hi, In my song, I recorded an Acoustic Guitar track and later added a lead guitar part starting at Bar 113 1 and ending at Bar 140 1. When I send these two tracks to a friend who I am collaborating with, do I need to worry about the fact that the lead guitar track is ‘empty’ till Bar 113 1? I mean, do I need to add a blank Region/Section/ … something … to the first 112 Bars - to prevent the second track from being ‘out of place’ when it transfers? Do I need to add another region in the first 112 Bars and join it to the Lead guitar region? I’d appreciate any help I can get. Thanks! Robeen
  3. Thanks, sunbrother! I was thinking of something like this, really. Once read what loukash said, I realized that his suggestion might also work, so I’ll try both options. Thanks again!
  4. Thanks, Loukash! Those three tracks that are selected are for the same Lead Vocal. I might, as I have in the past, use a Take Folder next time. This time, my question is how do I stick with what I have and turn that into one vocal track? I don’t want to start from scratch on the vocals… unless I absolutely HAVE to.
  5. Hi, I’m using Logic Pro X 10.8.1. Because I am uncertain about how to navigate in Track Stacks, I have [re] recorded different vocal parts of the song on different tracks. The tracks all have volume automation to zero out the vocal on one or more tracks and raise it on another. Everything sounds good to me now and I want one composite track that includes all three of my vocal tracks. I have used Join for this kind of thing in the past but with all the volume automation, I don’t know if that is a good option. Would it be better to Bounce … or Bounce Regions in Place …. I’ve got all the volume levels exactly like I need them and I need all the vocals on one track with no Normalize or volume changes from what I have now. What is the best way to achieve this? I added a screenshot to show the extent of the Volume Automation that I don’t want to accidentally lose. Plus … with ‘Join’ the resulting track inherits the automation of the first track selected [?] ... I understand I probably chose the least efficient way of doing what I’m trying to do? Thanks, Robeen
  6. Thanks for all the suggestions. I am leaning towards Beyerdynamic. BUT … could someone please dumb it down for me, exactly what Slate VSX is and does? I think I just don’t understand the concept. While I wait, I’ll go to their site again and red what I can to see if that helps.
  7. Thanks @enossified! Do you use them for tracking AND Mixing? Or do you have a different pair [open back] for Mixing? I’ve been using mine for both. Honestly, the only problem with mine are that the ear covers are coming apart. Plus, having steadfastly used these for 20 years, I thought the technology has surely advanced since I bought them? 🙂
  8. P.S. I did not mean to strike through any part of this post! But … having read what the headphones are good for, I will definitely check them out. I just read through your post a second time and I’m a little unsure. What exactly does VSX DO for me in the Mixing phase? What will I be listening TO when I’ve picked a space? What is the actual benefit?
  9. Thanks @markno999! The other cause for hesitation is the price. I’m basically doing home recordings with Logic Pro X in what used to be my daughter’s old 12/12 bedroom. I did put up 8 acoustic panels that made a huge difference to the ‘typical home acoustics’ for tracking [just acoustic guitar and vocal. But … having read what the headphones are good for, I will definitely check them out. I just read through your post a second time and I’m a little unsure. What exactly does VSX DO for me in the Mixing phase? What will I be listening TO when I’ve picked a space? What is the actual benefit?
  10. Thanks, @shivermetimbers, Matey! 😄 😄 🙂 I’m not sure I need the different space/speaker models. Are they helpful for someone with challenged hearing like me - or is it still helpful? All I’m doing, really, is tracking and basic mixes and then sending the tracks to be professionally mixed and mastered… to be posted to YouTube. A friend of mine suggested Beyerdynamic DT 100 and/or one of their open back models for mixing. Do you have any experience with Beyerdynamic headphones?
  11. Hi, I posted a similar question on another Forum so I hope this isn’t a duplicate post. I’m looking for any suggestions/pointers on getting new headphones for Tracking & Mixing. I’ve been using a pair of Sennheiser HD 280 PRO for the last 20 years but I would like to get a new pair of similarly flat response - if possible ‘better’ quality headphones. Any suggestions or pointers to a Forum that might be more suited to this kind of question would be appreciated. Robeen
  12. Hi, I have to record & mix using headphones because I do this late at night and can’t disturb the family. I have been using a pair of Sennheiser HD 280 PRO and they have served me well but it is time for a new pair. Plus I would hope the technology has advanced since I bought these in 2003!! 😄 🙂 I would appreciate suggestions for a pair that is Flat Response, Closed Back and ‘good quality’. I might be able to afford up to $500 - give or take. Might go higher if the recommendations are really strong. Thanks! Robeen
  13. Thanks for listening to my song, @David Nahmani! I appreciate your suggestion to just keep doing what I’m doing and not try using AI and ’78 plug-ins’ 😄 Even I noticed the artifacts of the vocal pitch correction. I let it go because it didn’t totally ruin the song. You’re the only one other than my wife who seems to have noticed it. She ‘kinda’ knows about pitch correction so she just tried to mimic it and we both had a laugh about it. Unfortunately, I can’t sing perfectly in tune these days because I haven’t kept my voice in shape with vocal exercises … plus … my hearing! Thanks again! 🙂
  14. @David Nahmani Thanks! I understand the concept of the Summing Track but have not used it in Logic as my recordings have been, to date, just guitar and, at most, two vocal tracks. Because of the ‘mission statement’ for this project of mine [do the best I can with my hearing and with the gear I already have + get a professional to Mix/Master], I have tried to 'keep it simple, stupid’ and have the end product sound like it looks - aging singer songwriter in the spare bedroom!! 😄
