  1. (uh, never mind, figured it out. problm is i have so many, maybe too many tracks, a morass. another track was mimicking this one... <:-}>
  2. Hi, people! An issue and a question or two: I have a track with notes/data that begins a minute or so into my song. See attached. Immediately before the first notes, I have a volume designation inserted. Several notes later, I have two lengthy notes preceded by a vol. designation = to the earlier one, which is followed by a much lower vol. designation two bars later at the end of the long notes. The problem is: when I start play from the playhead as indicated, the volume drops as expected. BUT when I start song from measure 1, the volume does NOT change. What's up with that?? ---- An unrelated question (perhaps): Why is there automation option in the piano roll view AND in the track view? Any difference? Confusing ... Thanks in advance!!
  3. Thank you, good people, I very much appreciate the replies and all the valuable info. Am definitely interested in upgrading. Counting my pennies... Trek
  4. Here's an ez question no doubt. If I purchase a higher performance Mac than I currently have, how ez would it be to install my current Logic onto it? As ez as, say, copying over a compressed version of it and opening? Or?? Thanks in advance!! -- Trek
  5. YES!!! Thank you, oscwilde!
  6. Actually, I have discovered that the aforementioned new issue occurs only within this single project. Nevertheless, I suspect there is a setting somewhere within it to disable issue.
  7. Thanks fuzzfilth! Apparently had the process buffer thing backwards. HOWEVER, I have a new unexpected issue (sheesh...). Everything I record is automatically quantized to 16th notes! NEVER had this issue before. Where is that damn setting to disable?? -- For years everything here functioned smoothly. Now all of a sudden out of the blue.... Thanks again, sir!
  8. Hello! Am not the most tech savvy, can't put my finger on what is at issue here. Have been using Logic perhaps 6 years now (recently upgraded, but problem precedes), this problem started unexpectedly not so long ago. Logic issue? or Mac issue? When I have a Logic project open and I try, for instance to play and/or record an idea using my Alesis keyboard there is a delay in hearing my performance and in recording, some tenths of a second. It is driving me nuts. Settings unchanged: buffer size maxed out, process buffer range large. If there should happen to be something going on in the background, how do I find it and stop it? I believe I have ample free memory for processing. What am I missing? Thanks in advance for any help. Tony Logic 10.8.1 Ventura 13.6.4
  9. Hello, Kinda wierd. A bug? or a setting? Recently updated to LP 10.8. I load a piece I have been working on. Track 1 is highlighted. I play keys. Everything sounds good. THEN I select another track. I start playing and I hear both the patch associated with track 1 AND the patch associated with newly selected track together. What is going on here? Thanks in advance for any help in this matter. Malcolm
  10. HALLELUIAH!! Projects will open!! It wasn't my Sonoma password that was required to uninstall, it was my Apple. Duh. Thank you, sir for the suggestion! All the best to you, RES99! Tony
  11. sincere thanks once again, DES99 will deal with this tomorrow. Had enuff for today :-}
  12. des99, I opened a new project. Guitar Rig works. Jam Origin works. Neither of these two have I even used as best as I recall. I also have DrumCore, which I already knew doesn't work with Monterey... I 'think' perhaps the projects that won't open use this plugin. How does one 'disable' a plugin like DrumCore? I tried to uninstall it but can't get the password right for some damn reason (?!). Not sure why one would even be needed. Weird. - have contacted manufacturer Sonoma for help, waiting on reply. Another thought: Could I share a un-openable project with another Logic Pro user who could perhaps open it, re-save it in some form or other without plugins. If I lose a track or two therein it would be better than losing the whole thing. In any case, I'm skeptical of even this last suggestion, but worth a try? Thanks! Tony
  13. Yeah, I clearly didn't think this upgrading thing thru, except that earlier upgrades did not seem to pose a problem. I will read your response more carefully and consider your suggestions when I have a moment. Again, thank you for the reply, your time much appreciated.
  14. Thank you for reply, DES99. Hmm... I see that Native instruments (Guitar Rig in my case) reported compatible with Monterey by at least one person. Jam Origin (MIDI guitar software), can't yet determine. Still researching... IF a project employs a plugin not compatible with Monterey, am I screwed? (at least until plugin software is updated, who knows if and when) Is reverting to the previous OS a practical viable option?
  15. Hello, This is the second time I have inquired about this issue, 1st time early January. Ever since I updated OS to Monterey I have had a multitude of curious, anomalous issues with LPX. Annoying, but I have managed workarounds, able to get work done. UNTIL NOW A day or two ago, I began revisiting .... or rather, been trying to revisit ... some older tracks/files to bounce and re-master. BIG problems. Repeated efforts to reload some tracks fail: "Logic Pro X quit unexpectedly. Click reopen to open the application again This report will be sent automatically to Apple." Two buttons, " OK" and "Reopen" are no help. Re-booting no help. I am fed up with this sh!t. Wish I had never upgraded to Monterey. I have googled go see if there is a real fix, and though there has been a couple mentions of similar issues, I have not been able to put my finger on clear cut and unambiguous instructions for fixing this stuff once and for all. I would gladly go back to an earlier OS. I know there are key combos or tricks that >may< be helpful, but I have forgotten them. My machine: iMac (Retina 4 K, 21.5-inch, 2017 LPX version 10.7.2 Monterey 2.1 Any help MASSIVELY appreciated. Thanks.
