  1. Anyway that has worked .... problem solved. You are a friggen genius. Never would have figured that out. Thank you.
  2. So is the Midi Environment universal for Midi instruments or does it just apply to each session?
  3. Yes .... The names of 2 synths and the name of port 3 on my MT4.
  4. Yes there are 3 midi objects there ... do I just delete them?
  5. Hi, sorry for the late reply. I never use the Midi environment so have not been messing around with it.
  6. Hi, why are my external Midi synths not appearing correctly in the device list in the library panel. They are setup correctly in the Mac audio midi utility and have been saved.... But in various sessions they appear incorrectly in the left-hand column. Devices are missing the right number of midi channels or they respond under the incorrect name. If I start a brand-new session everything is correct but all the older sessions appear wrong. Even if I refresh the library it is incorrect ..... is there some kind of preference that has to be deleted or something?
  7. Ok ... Will give it a try ....Thank you for your help.
  8. Ok thank you ... I haven't ventured into the environment yet .... sounds complicated but I will look into it.
  9. Hi, Is it possible in Logic Pro to record in the Sysex from the MKS80 and then automate it. For example move the VCF Filter slider on the MKS80 while recording and then be able to draw it in like you can with velocity or pitch bend in the automation window?
  10. Well its 7 months later and I bit the bullet and just ended up buying Logic as I got fed up with the never ending cash merry go round of various incarnations of PT. ... etc. Have got my head around it now and really enjoying working with Midi in it. Still not that comfortable working with the channel strips in the mixer section and the way that all works compared to PT.... but getting there. I can see how creating in Logic and mixing in PT would be the best of both worlds .... I understand why people do this. If I could change one thing in Logic it would still be that stupid "Track notes" .... it's such a handy feature but it's not "Track notes"... its "DEVICE" notes!!!! Just doesn't make sense .... I mean I am looking at tracks in the tracks area and its called TRACK NOTES .... I wish they would change it or at least give me the option. It would be such an easy fix.
  11. Thank you .... much appreciated.
  12. Anyone ... Is there a reason I can't see a solo button on the external midi tracks in the mixer window or is there just not one?
  13. Yes I suppose you are right. .... not until I get fully into using Logic can I judge. Old habits die hard. So is there a reason I can't see a solo button on the external midi tracks in the mixer window or is there just not one?
  14. Ahhhh ..... didn't have the View > All tracks with same channel strip turned on so now I can see them. But they are still linked obviously as you said as it's a channel strip. So I can individually mute them but why can't I see a solo button on the external midi tracks in the mixer window? I will be mainly using hardware synths, drum machine etc and don't use soft synths. But are really interested in using Sampler and Drum designer. Both are great .... and I have a good idea how they work .... the step sequencer is fantastic too. I am so used to the simple way PT works and ironically find it far more logical where Logic just seems to create a million tracks you didn't ask for. Being able to view just plain Midi tracks unrelated to each other in the mixer window in PT is a great way for me to play around and compose. I am hanging in there but really finding Logic unnecessarily over complex and kinda feels like its become a bit of a cobbled together monster over time. But enough negativity .... I am still learning and can see it offers far more in creative tools than PT. As you said there is strengths and weaknesses in all of them.
  15. Wow ... ok . I find that hard to believe. I thought great ... a decent size area to make notes on tracks but now its pretty useless. I suppose this way of thinking is also why I can't see 5 midi tracks in the mixer on 1 device .... only one?
