  1. No its not a bug. Its a feature and i think its useful. The bug lies elsewere. If you need to specify the midi in port from the physical input by connecting directly to the dmd track in the midi environment then midi in doesnt work which for me is very bad since there times that I need to hardwire external midi sequencers to my drum tracks. Fortunately DMD works with the oder setup by using ultrabeat. If anyone is interested, in another post I have converted the older dmd ultrabeat presets which have vanished form the logic 10 update which are still usable.
  2. I can understand very well why and I am not really dissapointed, a better word would frustrated/pissed. However I wouldn't like to be negative in a post talking about Apple's commitment to a product. I can understand that Logic is a complex beast and there are probably hundreds of bug reporting/feature requests. I just think that for the new exciting DMD approach it is unacceptable (not LOGIC) not to be able to to handle properly DMD from an external midi sequencer. I guess other users might have similar views on other issues. Although I know for sure that this would never really happen from a company like Apple, an explanation or even an automated answer from Apple saying that they will investigate would have kept me satisfied. However as I said in my previous post I am satisfied from the commitment that Apple shows towards Logic.
  3. I am really pleased that I have recently bought Logic in a fair price and I can tell that Apple is providing support to this product. Releasing an update so soon is indicative of their intentions. Although personally I have not been satisfied because my bug reporting to Apple was not tackled, I really like the fact that they released this update which is about some issues that I have not spotted. Maybe the stability is better because I had some random crashes/frezees with 10.5. Launching 10.5.1 was really fast on my system. Maybe a second or less slower due to the au plugin check. On the other hand I was really disappointed that they did not fix the midi input of drum machine designer and neither did they got back at me to let me know if this is something that can get fixed. I hope they will try to address it. Anyway I am really happy with this update!
  4. Can somebody help me with this issue. DMD is driving me crazy!! I am trying to overcome the bug(feature??) of DMD not being able to get midi explicitly from a specific port in the physical midi input. I've created a stack of two mapped instruments and cabled them to all of DMD nested tracks and that way I am able to use a specific midi port directly to the mapped instrument. How can I import the DMD in the attached project to another project along with the mapped instruments that are cabled to the DMD nested tracks? I've tried numerous things with no success. Any help appreciated New DMD with mapped instrument.logicx.zip
  5. Thank a lot. I've already started using ultrabeat disguised in DMD. I like it. Keep up the good work!! I'll let you know if I have something more from apple.
  6. Nah, Its an overkill to do that. Its better to sample everything in one file and use the quick sampler to slice and convert to DMD or import to an ultrabeat in DMD. Or after all use something else like battery!!!
  7. The other thing you are asking for doesn't make sense for QSampler, so you're barking up the wrong tree. What would make sense would be a way for Sampler to export a single Sampler preset as a DMD with multiple QSamplers... Each zone or group or whatever has to end up as a separate QSampler instance. FWIW, Apple has fixed some of the bugs i have reported. So please report it. please read my previous post about the adsr of EXS and Sampler. Th Qsampler will probably be able to import a zone not a group. A group would be imported to a series of pads and if it has velocity splits then it would get complicated. Think about it. Have a look at ultrabeat and how it imports sampler presets. You will understand my point. DMD and sampler as I told you have no use to me as I can directly cable a midi in to a sampler. DMD would only be useful for drum sound names as I said in my previous post.
  8. Yes you are right about the bug. But when will they fix it if I report which I will do? i want a solution to work now. If they fix it I suppose switching from ultrabeat to quick sampler will be easy. You are forgetting the most important issue of sampler. Only one adsr. That's why I need to use DMD with separate quick samplers or Ultrabeat. DMD and sampler is a no go. Would only help in the step seq regions where you could name your drum sounds.
  9. Hahaha No its not that complicated. In fact there are 2 mistakes from Apple. 1) No explicit midi input in DMD 2) No ability to import sampler zones in quick sampler. And I am not even touching the subject of smart controls. And by the way I really love Logic, that's why in my age I am still trying to relearn it and use it along with other more straightforward (in some aspects) daws.
  10. No way man!! I explained it!!! Using one Ultrabeat inside DMD gives me midi input from a specific midi port(DMD track stack can't get midi input from a specific port)! Ultrabeat can import my autosampled sampler zones(quicksampler can't)! Alternatively I can sample my drum hits in one after the other, slice with quick sampler and convert that after to a DMD. However I prefer the autosampler way and I don't loose the midi input. Pheww!!! I hope its clear!!
  11. from the other thread " I explained in the other thread. will say it again here. The new DMD system doesn't 1) get a midi input and 2) Quicksampler doesn't import sampler zones. Thats why I need to use ultrabeat. Actually I've said that a lot of times in my posts but I realise that I've said a lot of overwhelming stuff. Thx again for pointing me out to a solution. "

  13. Sorry to overwhelm you with a ton of info. Simply laid down: 1) Autosample drum sounds (sampler) and play them back from specific midi in port along with the use of step sequencer and smart controls. Solution is: autosampler -10.4 DMD with one ultrabeat-import sampler zones to ultrabeat. 2) Other drum plugins, external synths (battery, micro tonic ....) step sequenced from logic and/or from specific midi in port Solution is: Your DMD GM template Thanks for your time and I hope apple clears out this mess and deliver a product similar to other daws.
  14. I just wonder why didn't they bother to keep the ultrabeat presets and retain a similar approach to the quicksamplers and build on it.
