  1. I think I may have posted some years ago related to this issue in another thread. I know the thread is old but it seems like people still experience this as a problem, and so do I. Just wanted to share how my problem occurs. I use an RME interface and regardless the versions the last years, problem has been consistent. I can't say much else than it's a matter of CPU freak out, in my case, and especially when use varispeed in heavy projects. I see this happen in projects with too many plugins/channels. I get a loud pop that turns into silence. Once I saw the silly number of +700dB in Logic stereo out, but haven't seen that in a while.. it used to keep on sounding for some more seconds but nowadays it's just a few pops and then it's done until I try to play something. The problem starts in logic and lingers on in the landscape between the software and the interface. I have too little knowledge about exactly what happens, but let's say CORE audio gets into some loopy behaviour that leaves all meters on red, +23dB in my RME totalmix. Then the pop can be heard any time I move the volume knob that controls the master out to my speakers, in total mix. so.. I have to reset CORE in logic settings to get rid of it. Only fix. Or a restart, I guess. I've set a comp/limiter on the RME master output as well as my monitor headphones mix. Threshold at 0dB and maximum ratio as well as fastest attack. This helps the ears and body and speakers from total chock. 0db could easily be set lower if you are not mixing louder. Even better for your ears. Btw, has anyone ever seen a block diagram for Logic and Core audio? I'm interested how the audio is packaged between audio interface and core audio. How they communicate.
  2. Is there any chance you could elaborate? Which system you’ve used when this happened, and if not too much asked, your cabling too. I run with a Thunderbolt 2 to usb c (thb 3) adapter (Apple original). Btw all info is in the signature. Would others chime in regarding the RME?
  3. What are your experiences with this massive blast thing in logic? I get it a bit too much these days.. story of today looks like this: At playback, logic flips out and blasts my ears and then present a astronomic number of 750dBFS at the stereo out.. Covering my ears and lowering the volume with my toes, I got the situation under control. Then, this overload of whatever this is, stayed in the background, the sound didn’t show in logic but my software output (1-2, same as Logic’s stereo out) in (RME) Totalmix showed +24.1dB which I think could be the maximum visible (looks like fire red). I’ve even set a limiter on the totalmix master output for this but that takes everything over 0dBFS and thats already a lot in my speakers (good reason for inserting a attenuator, I know). When the sound stays in the background, I actually think this is from somewhere in he background of Logic since when I quit Logic, the sound goes away. I really know, it's not too well explained. Please ask, and also, if you have similar stories including sollutions, please share..
  4. Ok, I get it.. Thanks. You have to know sort of what to look for for this procedure. i have some crazy stuff going on in my system, just a minute ago Logc decided a realtime bounce was done at 80% running. Never happened before. Cycle range is untouched, my fingers away from the keyboard. At the same time it thought I should get a mix called "Smart Tempo Multitrack Set 1" which sounds like a the full mix but in mono. haha. edited for clarity.
  5. So the question is, if I press control right before I intend to open a project or right before I open the the software. I already have tried both. When I start Logic and hold control it gives me the dialog. After "Do not launch", nothing happens but Logic is still open. If I open a project from there while holding control key down, it opens the project.
  6. I see you actually provided a page from Apple. Thanks. I have a question. at: Open Logic Pro without audio input and output Do they mean I should press hold the control key at startup and then at "dont launch" it should close down again? I get an open Logic but with no project opened (as per my presets)
  7. Kind of, but I ain't giving up. Have to admit that I'm mixing wrong, which is my book isn't wrong, it just costs a bit more. I've been using too many individual reverbs on tracks and also not glued regions together when they would have needed it. So, a good wake up call to take care of the session better. So.. I'm getting there, I got a little gift googling bounce in place AUX and the result I post as a picture. It's brilliant and will save my mixing. It ain't curing the problem but it's giving me a done mix.
  8. Oh, where do I begin. I run the latest Logic and the last weeks I've been trying to mix a project (several songs) that is coming to an end but Logic is behaving incredibly moody. I've had problem originating from a special plugin alliance plug that gave me the loud popping sound, and then crashed my system. Then coming and going, I've had problem with automation data not appearing in the offline bounce, and to cure this I've decided to bounce realtime which then have revealed further instability, I get clicks occasionally, sometimes they already appear at playback, sometimes not. Very often it is due to the arturia REV 140 not accepting too much automation or long decay times.. and so on. One specific song did not like that I varispeeded it up but down was ok.. Chaotic and tiresome. Am I running the processor too hard, perhaps? I set the buffer size to 1024 and mix away. Logic normally does not complain about being too slow. Sometimes I use the headphones amp, most of the times my RME UFX+. I can't say I can bounce my files with confidence. I've been trying to reset everything. Some songs are better. This is just a very confused post but if anybody can lift anything from this and help out, I'd be happy. (I did reset stuff and erased prefernce files and all that, sometimes it's been better, but can't do that all time)
  9. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the scenario, but this seems like an easy one. With plugin and volume info bypassed; Just bounce (your selected region) in place to new track without muting the source, and then simply insert your new "bip" file on the (old) source track, then just delete destination track. Hope this is what you're (both) looking for.
  10. as a starting point, try all this together.. send the vocals out to a guitar (pedal) delay or similar analog delay with a short delay. At the same time (before or after), find some (cheap hardware guitar rack) lofi gated reverb or just a short reverb and fiddle around with early reflections/pre dealy, sum everything in MONO (with logics direction mixer or earlier). but as someone mentioned, it's very likely some kind of ADT going on.
  11. Hi, Could someone please check this out? I have a project where the lead vocals go to a bus. At one point in the song, I'm soloing this bus for like 3 seconds or so. It's automated in the main window (from the aux's own track). When playing back or doing realtime bounce, everything is fine. Result sound like I heard it at playback. But on offline bounce (which I do most of the time) this automation is getting delayed. I suspect 1 second or so. I have recently deleted all prefs and stuff to get a "clean machine" but didn't help. Is it the automation on the bus itself that causes this? Are there things being delayed by its nature like this. I have actually never done an autmated solo before at all. I just figured it's a much nicer way of muting everything except the things you want to solo (my vocals). It's uniform and it takes no time to mix like this. Lately I've been having other related issues. Automation does not kick in in time on some projects. Real time bounce is really another chapter I don't want to get back to so I ask kindly if someone has at least a clue what's going on so I can start to dig in. Edit: edited text and rants to make it easier to follow..
  12. Click&hold to drag the region while maintaining depressed the Shift&Ctrl (modifier keyboard keys) will reveal in the tool-tip popup (in realtime) the distance you are moving the region. Another approach could be setting the playhead at the desired location first (main menu > Navigate > GoTo > Position...), then using the local menu > Move > to Playhead. Admittedly not ideal, but you could recreate the original region's left border position using the Marquee tool to encompass the moved region and extend that selection to the original border position and creating a new region to that effect (using the key-command J). Ok, thanks. Will look into these things later today.
  13. That is a neat work around, one just need to count a little. The ruler shows you where you are at, when you start to move a region, and where you are ending. Not how many (ms) you are moving your region. Again, if I'm mistaken here, please correct. Edit: though it doesn't help when I want to have the regions at a fixed place and delay them. Can't have it all.. I've at least informed Logic about this. I've rarely had the need before to do this (over 20 years), but I am now a little surprised that this option does not exist.
  14. If moving regions is not a problem, you could use the nudge function set to ms and use the Option+Left Right arrows Screen Shot 2021-01-23 at 08.04.41.png The nudge works more on the "set and forget" (or take notes) terms if I'm not mistaken. And as far as I know, you still can't specify the exact nudge value. If so, please correct me.
  15. Wohh, that amazing command helped me. So to help others. I went from viewing my send 1 data, into the automation menu while holding command key down, into the menu for send 2, and voila, Logic asked me what I want to do. Very hidden feature, Thanks!!
