  1. Hi scg, thanks again for your detailed reply. I applied flextime to the audio tracks, and this indeed seems to have fixed the issue. The guitar tracks still sound warbly and wobbly, but they were only scratch tracks so I can rerecord them, no problems. Many thanks Matt
  2. Hi scg, thanks for your reply. Can I ask what are the appropriate flex mode settings? Is this something I would need to set up for every project, in case I start playing with the varispeed? Cheers!
  3. Hi there, I demoed a song at 88bpm. It seemed a bit lacking in energy, so I experimented with changing the tempo using varispeed. The new speed is 92bpm, which I'm happy with. When I recorded some new guitar parts at 92bpm, they sounded "warbly" and odd. So now I've figured out what the right tempo is (92bpm) I figure I should set up the project properly at 92 bpm, without the varispeed. My question is: what is best practice for doing this? I tried changing the master project tempo setting to 92bpm, using but ADAPT and KEEP tempo, but the different tracks (some are audio, some are MIDI) sounded out of whack. I find I often need to adjust the tempos of my demos, so it would be great to be able to do this efficiently and quickly. Thanks in advance for your help, Matt
  4. Just thought I'd reply to my question (seeing as no-one else has! 😀) Unpacking the folders, and making them the same size with same amount of takes, then repacking them did indeed work. I was then able to use grouping to edit them simultaneously, so problem solved. I think the reason it didn't work at first was because I hadn't reapplied the Groups (rookie error) Cheers
  5. Hi all, I did 12 different takes of a guitar recording, with simultaneous dry and wet tracks. However, while recording I somehow managed to come up with a different amount of takes between the wet and dry tracks (I think I accidently recorded one of the takes solo, and not simultaneously). Because of this difference in take numbers, when I enable Editing (Selection) in Group mode, it doesn't work. My question is this: is there a way I can work around this, perhaps by unpacking each take folder to separate tracks, and then repacking them so that the two new take folders have the same amount of takes in them? So for both wet and dry tracks, I would keep takes 4-12, which are the same, and delete takes 1-3 (which are expendable). My hope is that with the two tracks having the same amount of takes, the Editing (Selection) in the Grouping tab will then work. I tried just deleting the takes 2-3 in each track, which are the ones that are different, but that didn't work. Hope that makes sense, thanks in advance for your help! (I am running version 10.4.6 on a MacBook Air with Mojave)
  6. Hi, on a related subject: I want to send my files to a mixer who uses Pro Tools, and I would like to include the rough automation I did to give him a better idea of some of the sonic nips and tucks I think the tracks need. However, I would like him to be able to then do his thing and adjust my rough automations as he sees fit. Is that possible, or will he be stuck with my automations? Thanks in advance!
  7. Could be. Anyway, thanks again for all your help. I might just go manual for now. Don't want to update Logic for fear of creating more headaches!
  8. Like this, do you mean? These are my current settings:
  9. OK, thanks David. Do you have any ideas why it wouldn't work for me? Is it specific to my Mac? And are there any workarounds you could suggest to get the regions named correctly? All I can think of is to export the stems to my desktop, and then rename them manually (once I've figured out what is wet and dry)
  10. PS - if I individually select that "dry" track and do shift-alt-N, it will rename that region to "dry" - but then the "wet" region above it is also renamed "dry", even though I haven't selected it. So they seem to be linked somehow.
  11. That's weird. It still doesn't work for me. Can I double check with you that the "wet" or "dry" part ofd the name at the ends of the regions changed for you? As you can see in the image below, that's not changing for me (ie. the second region should have "dry" at the end, not "wet")
  12. Thanks David. How do I share the project?
  13. Hi there, I'm about to send a new project to mixer. He likes to get a wet stem of a guitar, with pedal effects and amp settings, but also a dry stem. So I've copied the original stem (with the effects, amp etc) onto a duplicate track, and then I turned off all the pedal/amp models for a dry stem. I named the tracks to reflect this, then selected them all, went to the Functions menu, did the ol' Rename Regions by Track Names. However, as you can see in the screenshot, it hasn't differentiated between the different track names - just doubled up on the first track. I presume this might have something to do with the audio files being copies, but is there a way to get around this? There are a lot of different tracks, and I don't want to manually rename them all if possible! Thanks for your help!
