  1. I think I figured it out. I needed to select all my track regions, then go to Functions > Lock SMPTE Position. Then I could change my tempo to adjust the metronome. Then I could Unlock SMPTE under the same menu. It seems this will work—the audio is not being affected by the tempo change.
  2. Hello, I have a song that is fully recorded, but I need to re-record the acoustic guitar. Originally I used a click drum track for a metronome. I need to increase the tempo of the song in order to adjust the metronome to my liking. Whenever I try to increase the tempo of the song, on playback all the tracks are out of sync and really goofed up. I've tried turning off flex I selected all tracks and tried Edit > Tempo > Remove Original Recording Tempo No matter what, a simple tempo change really screws up the song. Any ideas on how to change the tempo of the song without taking everything out of sync? Thanks.
  3. No, I've had no luck so far. I stopped looking shortly after I made this post. Instead, I've just been going on my own, starting simple with one cello, then adding a couple more instruments. Hopefully someday I'll meet someone that has more knowledge in this area.
  4. Hello, I'm a singer-songwriter trying to learn how to provide string arrangement for my songs. I was wondering if there are any public, downloadable Logic projects strictly for learning purposes? I believe having some complete string arrangements in a project that I can rummage through would be a great way to learn. Thank you-
  5. Well, sorry, I spoke too soon. It happened again. All I did was delete one electric guitar take on track #4. Logic then crashed. I restarted, and Logic told me there were several files missing. As seen below, all acoustic guitar takes and vocal takes are gone. As you recommended David, I did a finder search for the files, and also manually searched in the 'audio files' folder. The files have been deleted. It seems that the act of deleting that one guitar take prompted Logic to delete all the comp takes as well. Talk about a mess. I'm going to contact Apple regarding this. I don't expect you guys to figure this out– it seems like a major bug or something. I appreciate the help you've given
  6. Hi David, yes, I've been backing up the entire project folder. Thanks for your help and clarification– I've learned a few things in this thread. Angelo– that was the solution! Created a new project, imported the faulty project, and all is working excellent. No crashing or disappearing tracks. I'm so glad to have this issue behind me. THANK YOU.
  7. Hey Angelo, thanks for clarifying, I understand now. That sounds like a good idea, I'll certainly give it a try.
  8. Thanks David, I'll make sure to give this a try the next time it happens. So far, I've replaced the 'audio files' folder with a backup of that folder and it synced up nicely. I just need to make sure I backup that folder when I record new tracks. I've never used the project audio browser, though I'm glad you pointed that out– it seems to be a useful tool.
  9. Thanks for your reply, Angelo. Yes, this project has imported tracks, and those are the tracks that are giving me problems. So far I haven't had luck creating a new project and importing those tracks again. For now, I'm keeping a fresh copy of my 'audio files' folder for the project. Whenever the project crashes and my tracks get deleted, I swap out the 'audio files' folder for the stable one, and things are up to date and ok. I just need to make sure that I frequently clone the 'audio files' folder to serve as a true replacement.
  10. Well, it seems that this problem is not over. I've lost all my vocal tracks in this project. All I did was delete 3 electric guitar takes from track #9, then Logic crashed. When I loaded the project, it said many audio files were missing. As you can see from the screenshot, tracks #2 & 3 now have no waveforms. All 25 vocal takes are missing from track #2. My vocal comp track #3 is blank as well. This has happened several times, and lots of time and work has been wasted. I don't expect anyone to really know why this is happening, though if anyone has suggestions on how to salvage this project, that would be very helpful. I do have a backup of this project from yesterday, though this recent crash has lost much work... screenshot
  11. Thanks triplets. Me too. This was probably such a unique issue that it's best to just work around it.
  12. Hi triplets, the files are 24 bit aif, and the external HD is formatted Mac OSX Extended. I decided to record the remaining partial vocal takes on a new track, and so far things are working. As long as I don't mess with the large imported vocal track, I hope it will be okay. This will interfere with comping a bit, but it seems I have no choice.
  13. Hello, Logic is acting very strange with a particular project I'm working on, and I've nearly lost hours of work with what's been going on. I've had to import a vocal track that has 25 takes (most are partial, autopunch in/out) into the project I'm working on. Other than the imported track, I have an acoustic guitar track with 15 takes (most are partial in/out). I know that's a lot of takes. Then I have two electric guitar takes, and a click track. Out of the blue, all my vocal takes will disappear. Waveforms are flat, and the files are gone upon reloading the project, and I have to 'skip all' when loading. Fortunately, I saved the project on another drive, so I was able to re-import the vocal track with 25 takes. Also, I need to record a couple more partial vocal takes. When I try to do so, Logic crashes. Then when I reload, all my takes are missing again. Maybe the file structure is messed up, buggy, I don't know. I'm still a beginner with Logic. But if anyone has advice on how to salvage this project– perhaps by creating a new a new project and importing or any other method, I would welcome the input. I can't even work on the project anymore, and I really don't want to lose all this work. This issue doesn't happen with any other projects Thanks-
  14. Ok, I restarted my computer and that has solved the issue. Strange. I'm now able to add another bus to any track. Thanks for trying to help!
