  1. Hi. I've released AudioSwift 2.3.6 Beta that includes a new Surround Controller option for Logic Pro using a trackpad or even the touch surface of a Magic Mouse. With simple touches and key shortcuts, we can control the parameters in the 3D Object Panner and Surround Panner. Here is more information: https://audioswiftapp.com/a-surround-controller-for-your-trackpad-magic-mouse/ Here is a video demo using a Magic Mouse:
  2. Hi. Thanks for trying out AudioSwift! This happens because Logic Pro doesn’t allow to input notes with this method when Logic is not the key app on screen, or to be more specific, when the Piano Roll window is not focused. Because of technical reasons in the code, AudioSwift requires to be the key app on screen when it’s called; all the other apps go to the background. We can’t even input notes in Logic Pro Step Input Mode with other MIDI controllers while AudioSwift is on. Unfortunately, there isn’t a workaround for this.
  3. Hi again. I made a tutorial on how to use a trackpad with AudioSwift as a touch controller for the Dolby Atmos 3D Object Panner. Link: https://audioswiftapp.com/trackpad-controller-for-dolby-atmos-in-logic-pro-10-7/ Here is a short demo:
  4. Another option if you have a MacBook or Magic Trackpad. I made this app AudioSwift https://audioswiftapp.com/ that transforms the trackpad into a set of MIDI tools. In this video, I divided the trackpad into two XY pads, that controls each Remix effect and has on/off command: To configure this, first you'll need to get access to the Remix FX parameters and use the MIDI Learn function (CMD+L) in Logic Pro X for the mapping. Click the View button at the top right of Remix FX and change the graphical interface to Controls; all the plugin parameters appear in a list. Besides the vertical and horizontal movements, you'll need to also map a MIDI message to toggle each effect using the AudioSwift XY pads switch controls (CC#22 and CC#25 in my example). In the video above, I divided the trackpad into two XY pads using AudioSwift in XY Mode/View 2 and separated the effects in groups using different MIDI channels. Change between the channels quickly by using key shortcuts "Left" and "Right" arrows. You can then write the trackpad performance to a track via the automation lanes. If you'd like to learn more about using AudioSwift in XY Mode, check out our tutorial section for videos or read the user guide: https://audioswiftapp.com/tutorials/
  5. Here is a guide for working with a trackpad in Logic Pro. I review some of the multitouch gestures available, different setups using the trackpad as a MIDI controller with AudioSwift, and how to customize shortcuts with gestures using BetterTouchTool. I share a trick for moving the playhead with a tap anywhere in the Arrange window, not only over empty spaces. Producing Music with a Trackpad
  6. If you're updating to Mojave, current version AudioSwift 2.0.0 works with macOS 10.14 Mojave. Just follow these steps to set it up: AudioSwift 2 works with macOS Mojave
  7. Hi. I’m the developer of AudioSwift that was mentioned above. You can get a second hand Magic Trackpad and with AudioSwift use it as a wireless XY pad. It works from macOS 10.11.6 and up. AudioSwift lets you send CC messages using one finger, two or three fingers, for very simple or more complex MIDI performances. Release the fingers and the CC controllers return automatically to a default value you set up. The trackpad can also be divided into two independent XY pads or set it up to Pitchbend. A Magic Trackpad 2 can send aftertouch MIDI messages by pressing the surface. Here is a video demo using u-he Zebra: There is a free 15-days trial demo. If you are currently using a magic mouse, you can test AudioSwift with the touch surface of the mouse to get an idea of the app. Instead of using a four/five fingers tap to turn AudioSwift on, set it up with a keyboard shortcut and use the magic mouse surface as an XY pad.
  8. Hi. AudioSwift 2 has been released. It includes the Slider Mode, a total redesign of the XY Mode, and If you're into photography, it can now be used with Adobe Lightroom. AudioSwift 2 is a free update for version 1 users. Just click 'Check for Updates' to download it. Read more here.
  9. I’m glad you like it. Thanks for your feedback. The Return to Default feature with the smoothness of the trackpad’s surface will definitely add expressiveness to a lot of VI’s. I will add this feature to the XY Mode. I’m going to release soon a quick update that will let AudioSwift remember the trackpad you’re using as a MIDI controller, so AudioSwift will activate automatically by just touching that trackpad, and deactivates when moving a mouse. With this option there’s no need for four/five fingers taps, hotkeys or escape keys.
  10. Hi. I released a public beta update of AudioSwift which includes the new Slider Mode. It's a fifth controller that divides the trackpad into 1 to 4 virtual sliders and send either CC or Pitch Bend MIDI messages. It's great for desktop composers/sound designers or mobile producers working with a MacBook and a small 25-Keys keyboard. The trackpad becomes a handy wireless MIDI controller. 11. Hi I'm Nigel. I'm the developer of AudioSwift. About the issue with the Magic Mouse or working with two trackpads, I've released a new version 1.2.0 that has a workaround for this. Because of limitations with the macOS framework used to make AudioSwift work properly, a trackpad can't be used solely for the MIDI controller without moving the mouse pointer. That's why the mouse pointer is frozen when the console is on, to avoid accidental clicks and drags over other apps. In the new version however, the first trackpad that is touched when the console is on will be the MIDI controller. Then, when the second device surface is touched (another trackpad or a Magic Mouse), the console will be turned off automatically so you can get control of the mouse pointer again without the need of pressing the escape key or the hotkey. To download the new version, just click "Check for updates" at the main menu.
