I’m back helping a friend do some recording in Logic. His Mac is using 10.8.1 running on Sonoma. His audio interface is a Tascam Model 16 mixer which acts as a 14 in /16 out USB interface.
After tracking he wants to mix on the Tascam, using Logic like a tape deck. His current project has only 7 audio tracks, using tracks 1-7 in Logic. When we go to assign the output for each track, we wanted to choose mono outputs 1-7. When selecting Output-Mono we see outputs 3-14 available, but instead of Output 1 and 2 we see “part of stereo out” listed twice at the top of the pulldown list (sorry, no screenshot).
We tried using those for tracks 1 and 2 but no audio made it to the Tascam. We reassigned tracks 1 and 2 to outputs 8 and 9 and then audio got through. I’m assuming that since outputs 1 and 2 are not in the pulldown by name, that is why we were not seeing audio into the Tascam’s first two channels.
At home, I use a MOTU M2 interface, 4 ins and 2 outs. My own Mac is at 10.7.9 and running on Monterey. When assigning outputs I can choose output 1 and 2 just fine or route any track to stereo out. I do not see “part of stereo out” in the pulldown for mono outputs.
Back on my friend’s Mac what settings should we be looking at in Logic that would cause Outputs 1 and 2 to not be listed in the pulldown?
