  1. David -- we have checked the settings and any changes, and although we can't figure out why, it appears our two projects are acting similarly now. So I'm happy to chalk it up to gremlins. It's October. -- David
  2. Hi David -- Thanks for your help. We are both on LP 10.5.1. I believe his is one generation back on MacOS. I'm on 10.15.6. I believe we have the same project file, but I will check with him to see again if we can find any differences between our setting including flex.
  3. I am collaborating on a project with a friend. When the project is in my Logic application, if I adjust the tempo map down, from say 66 bpm to 60 bpm, the audio files are adjusted automatically and the play is slower (as I expected it would be). But on his application, his adjustment of the tempo map does nothing to alter the tempo of the play. We took it from 66 to 30 and lower so there's no mistaking that there was no change in the playback. Is there some setting on his system that is turned on/off that we can change? Thanks for your help. David Fogel
  4. Thanks very much David. Appreciate the update!
  5. Hi Everyone, New problem (post 10.5.0 upgrade). I am working on a symphonic score, so there are lots of tracks with different articulations for the different instruments. I am finding now sometimes Logic is not playing a track (seemingly at random). If I make a new track for that instrument/articulation and copy the midi to that track it plays fine. (Big problem because when playing something with 50 different tracks at once it's virtually impossible to know if something has dropped out without either being very familiar with how it is supposed to sound or going back to check each track from time to time.) I have no instance where I have set the volume of a track to zero. Also, I have tried a bounce in place when the midi is failing and I get silence. After creating a new track and copying the midi, so that it plays again, and bouncing in place, it's generates the wav. But I need to work with the midi until ready to bounce final tracks most of the time. OK, please let me know if anyone else has experienced this and any ideas for getting around it. Thanks, David
  6. Hi David -- ok, rebooted, opened a new project, and I am seeing the same thing. If I move the playhead to a measure (say 8) and go to the LED and select 5/4, it makes the project 5/4 from measure 1. If I open the area where the tempo map is and click on the + next to signature, then I can add a new signature at the measure when the playhead is located (e.g., measure 8). I'm using 10.5, i5 quad core from 2016, Catalina, with 24 GB RAM, if those details would matter (but I doubt it). At least I have a workaround and it's only 1 or 2 extra clicks so that's fine. Still, would be nice to understand if I somehow changed a setting inadvertently. All the best, David
  7. Hi David. Thanks. [Right, that's I think what you taught me. ] But when I do that it is in effect making the time signature change at measure 1 regardless of the playhead position and overwriting whatever else follows. I believe it used to work exactly as you describe, until apparently it didn't. I did find a work around where if I position the playhead and click the + on the signature bar in the space where the tempo map is found (I forget the specific name for this area) then it will allow me to insert the time signature at that measure without the problem. Once I wrap this project, I will close Logic and restart everything and see if it clears up. I didn't want to chance anything else with this project as I have another issue with an intermittent space bar going only one beat forward problem too. I think the file is possibly corrupt and in that case it's best just to limp to the finish line.
  8. Hi everyone, I'm running into a new one. I need to change one measure to 5/4 from 4/4. Usually I just click the playhead at the measure and set the time signature and it leaves everything prior that alone. Right now it is changing the time signature for the entire project. I can't seem to find my way out of this. First time for everything. What setting needs to be unset? Thanks! David
  9. OK thanks Atlas. When I have the opportunity to upgrade the RAM I will do that. Maybe that will help with System Overflow too. We'll see.
  10. Thanks everyone. It has happened on different projects and "nice" to hear that David N. has experienced it as well (Hi David! I hope you're doing great.) -- I'm running iMac (2015), 3.3 Ghz quad-core i5, 8GM 1600 Mhz DDR3, AMD radeon R9 M290 2GB. It's annoying enough to write my message I hope there will be a fix forthcoming.
  11. Hi Everyone -- I recently upgraded to Catalina, which I think is likely related to my issue. Since then, frequently a portion of my track screen will go blank. Could be right side, middle, left side. I'm attaching an image with a right-side example. The picture shows the screen going blank at measure 25+ but I assure you there's plenty of midi after measure 25. Is this a known new bug with Logic Pro X running on Catalina, or is there something I can do to prevent this from occurring? Thanks, David
  12. Thanks that did it. I have no idea how it got turned on -- certainly not a conscious choice since I was unaware of that functionality. Much appreciated. -- David
  13. Sure, and thanks for your suggestion there. iMac from mid 2015. i5 running 3.3GHz. MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 Logic Pro X 10.4.6
  14. Hi everyone. I just encountered something I can't seem to turn off. When I do a midi recording (highlight the track, keyboard R, record, hit space bar to stop) the track shows as a loop of tracks a la what you'd get if you brought in a loop from the library and dragged right. I can't seem to see how to turn this off or what I may have done to turn on this "feature" -- any help is appreciated!
  15. Eric, I'd appreciate your comment on this. Before downloading your zip I went to my project and thought "Ok let's see about adding a volume control on region 1 of the Steinway" -- I booted up Logic and went to play the project. The Steinway clearly shows volume levels changing as the playhead is going but no sound is coming from the track/region. This is right off the start -- not after the fade at the end. Then I reinit Core Audio and try again and it plays from the start. Is that a logical outcome of something? Separately, you mentioned using automation on the drummer. I don't recall seeing how to do this before and when looking through Logic Pro Help forums I recall seeing a post that David N. offered about doing it the way I am doing it in this project. I like the effect on this project with all the fills in the fade over the separate tracks but I'd appreciate understanding how to get into automation for the drummer. I've downloaded your fix -- just clarifying, is the only change you made adding volume automation at 127 for the piano region? If this is the case then if I ever run into this again I will have that as a clue, but my understanding (perhaps not correct) was the default for a region was 127. Thanks again for your help. David
