  1. Thanks for the replies - I went for reinstalling and some of my libraries found the old samples anyway. I'll definitely check out that video!
  2. Hi, I'm in the process of moving my music set up from a 2013 MacBook Pro to a 2020 MacBook Pro M1. I have a 1TB SSD external drive that I run sample libraries (including Logic sounds) from as well as my VST's - what's the best process for transferring these over? I looked at 'Sound Library/Relocate Sound Library by my external drive is greyed out (permissions?) - Not too much of a problem as I can simply re-download the library sounds. For other libraries such as IK Multimedia, is there a way to link them back up or should I ditch an re-download/install?
  3. Thanks - that’s pretty much how I ended up doing it. next time I’ll edit the drum tracks fully in place before doing anything else with them.
  4. Hi, I'm just doing some drum editing - I have my drum recording takes on one set of tracks, I've chosen the best set of comps and copied the comp to a new set of tracks - I'll use these as the main drum track and mute and hide the originals. While editing and mixing the rest of the song I'm noticing parts of the drum performance where I need to select a better comp for (a drum fill that doesn't quite work with the rest of the song for example). To do this I'm going back to the original tracks, re-comping the fill and exporting the whole of the comp (for the whole song) back out to new tracks. I'm then copying the specific parts of the regions and pasting them over the working drum tracks (and then subsequently deleting the newly created tracks). I need to do this two or three times - is there a better way of getting a new section of a song out of the original takes that doesn't involve copying out the whole songs worth of drums? I guess I shouldn't have bounced out the comp before I had finished editing!
  5. That's great - I can get pretty close with that - Thanks!
  6. Hi, I play in a Marillion tribute band and I'm trying to re-create a specific effect using synths in Logic. The effect in question can be heard at 1:49 here... I've been using the Retro analog synth to try and get something low and 'white-noise' but I'm not getting it quite right. Just wondering if anyone with more experience of synths might be able to point in the right direction? Thanks, Darren
  7. I haven’t got melodyne but I think I’ve figured it out in ESX24. Everything in Logic seems to work really well - it’s just so unbelievably un-intuitive.
  8. Hi, I have a song that i'm mixing and the bass player isn't very good - there's one part of the song where my only option is to sample a long bass note and replace the playing with a better part. I've managed to get a note into Alchemy but the note isn't long enough so I need to loop over the sustain portion of the sample. I can get it loop from start to end and move the start and end points - but what I really need it to do is start at the beginnin, play to the end of a loop point and then loop over a loop range. Is this possible in Alchemy? ...or EXS24?
  9. This particular project is promo for a tribute band. I’ll be working with the singer on some original material once we’ve completed this and three other tracks.
  10. Thanks! I agree with a lot of that - it’s difficult to get any space in there with everything that’s going on - I guess I should work on creating space in the loud bits. It’s all real playing but with some vintage keys. The original track is from 1993 and we’re trying to emulate the feel of it rather than create a modern sounding mix. On comparison to the original I thought I had more space in mine....but I’ll definitely see what I can do.
  11. Hi, This is a cover of a song by Marillion that I've just mixed. It's not mastered yet so it might be a little quiet. I'd love to know what you think! https://1drv.ms/u/s!An-b3hMz0b0vqgbHUTmIC44DNIka?e=f0sFWq Thanks, Darren
  12. Hi, I’m looking at mixing my finished recordings in Mixbus 32c. I’ve got through the editing stage in logic, I’ve created a new alternative for the purpose of deleting hidden tracks and making sure midi tracks are bounced etc. After exporting all tracks and creating a Mixbus project, some of the stems sound like they did before editing - do I need to bounce Flex tracks in order to get them to output to stems?
  13. ...I might go back to a backup and re-import the tracks. I guess this would be fine if I comped first and then re-aligned for phase after rendering the comps.
  14. Hi (again ), I've got a guitar that I mic'd with three mics, one on each speaker and a condenser about a foot back from the front of the cab. I've phase aligned the condenser to bring it in line with the other two. Now that I've done that, the condenser regions, despite being in the same group (for editing) as the other two, won't comp with the other two. How do I get it back in the comp group?
