  1. I struggle with mastering the low end of a recording: - on one hand, the 30-40 Hz range eats headroom and is useless on `normal' speakers (home, car, ...), - on the other hand it should sound full range on a PA with pro subwoofers and 1000 watts; for example the low B string of a bass guitar or a Moog bass pedal should come out fully. I look for a tutorial about this. Any hints?
  2. I want to use the output of one track, say A, (post-plugins) as the Referencer Spectrum for a MatchEQ on another track, say B. What is the most efficient way to do this? I tried using track A as a side chain, but am unsure if I get the right spectrum this way.
  3. Question for the mastering masters in this forum: what sounds usually best: 1) adding reverb by sending each track to one single bus with a reverb plugin or 2) add a reverb plugin on each track separately Thanks for the advice Bonqui
  4. Thanks for the tip. I worked the pitch wheel back and forth a bunch of times. Perhaps there was some dust in it. For the moment this appears to help. Bonqui
  5. Logic appears to receive strange MIDI pitch wheel messages. Software instruments unwanteldly change pitch without me touching the pitch or mod wheels. I use an M-Audio Keystation 49. Is this a Logic issue or is the keyboard the culprit? Bonqui
  6. I am confused about the outgoing midi channel number when using the external plugin for an external synth. What is the difference between, on one hand, the midi channel number in the plugin and, on the other hand, the Track MIDI channel number in the Track Inspector? And which one is advised to use (the external synth is on channel 5)?

  8. I want to add/record in realtime some modwheel modulation to an existing midi track (f.i. with the ES1 synth). How can this be done? Bonqui
  9. I want to a to EQ a track in such a way that the pitch determines the cut/boost frequencies in a EQ plugin. The idea is to cut/boost harmonics of, for example, a bass guitar, depending on the note played. So the EQ cut/boost frequencies in the plugin should follow the note pitch. How to do this in Logic? Bonqui
  10. My current composition has lots of anacrusis (upbeats: one or two notes before the first beat of a bar); think of Let it be (Beatles). What is an efficient way to deal with this in Logic, for example if you want to move around the bars (shift, copy, paste etc) in your song Bonqui (apology: I already posted this question on `Composition and Creativity', without success, so I try it here)

  12. Notice that the M-Audio Keystation 49e is *not* listed on the site http://m-audio.com/kb/article/1919 while the 49es *is*
  13. >> Did you also try the fix from the m-audio site? It might be that the upgrade has corrupted the MIDI settings of your old keyboard as described. >> you might need to try this: http://m-audio.com/kb/article/1604. I did all that: unplugged, deleted the MIDI settings for the Keystation in the Audio MIDI Setup app, replugged in etc. No help.
  14. I have switched the old M-Audio 49e (unplugged it) with a new 49es (plugged into the same USB cable) from my friend, and everything is working properly now. So could it be that Mac OS X 10.11 does not support the old M-Audio anymore? PS I had done an upgrade from 10.9 to 10.11.
  15. It always worked before (OS X 10.9). Anyway, I tried using another cable. No help..
