  1. Hello, I remember when importing a MIDI file, a notification window would open asking if I'd like to import tempo or not. Somehow that window no longer appears when I import MIDI file and now the tempo can't be imported. How do I enable it again? Thanks for anyone who can guide me.
  2. Brilliant! Never thought it's so easy. Thanks a lot for taking the time to demonstrate.
  3. Hello, I'd like to change the velocity of a midi performance, keeping the relative dynamic (velocity) relationship between each note but have a softer beginning and louder ending. This is easy to achieve in Cubase by dragging the handle of a midi clip but I struggle to achieve the save effect in Logic. Just wondering if it's possible in Logic at all. Thanks in advance if anyone can help.
  4. As Logic's I/O assignment page shows, the current maximum setup for Atmos is 7.1.4. Let's assume that I have access to a studio with a 11.1.8 setup, am I still restricted to 7.1.4 if mixing in Logic? Thanks in advance for answering!
  5. His external Samsung SSD is brand new 256GB. He only stored one session file of 35 audio tracks on that drive. Internal Macbook SSD is 500GB with about 200GB free space.
  6. The drive is connected with a USB 3.0 cable. It's strange that even moving the session with all the audio files to the internal HD also cause the same problem.
  7. I'm asking this question for a friend. He's on OS 10.15.5 with Logic 10.5.0. A project he's working on has 35 audio tracks, recorded at 24bit 48KHz without any plugin and the HD I/O meter reaches about 75% when he plays the session. Occasionally he gets the "Disk too slow" message. Changing I/O buffer doesn't help as the problem is not with the CPU. He run the session on an external SSD. Then he tried moving the session entirely to the internal Mac HD which is also SSD, and the high HD I/O remains. I've never had this problem with SSD and a typical session with 80+ tracks only reaches 5-10% of HD I/O. What could cause this high load on his drive?
  8. Hello, Is there a way to set custom grid values other than the ones pre-existing in Logic (like 1/4, 1/8, 1/12, 1/16 etc)? Thanks!
  9. Hello, Since the 10.6 update, the Language setting is deleted from Preference - Display. How can I change the Display Language of Logic now? It doesn't change with the OS language either. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks!
  10. I didn't clarify that I was talking about M/S EQ during the Mastering process. I've been taught that EQing the M channel would only affect lead vocal, snare, kick which are at center but not any sounds panned to the sides like guitars, hi-hat etc. I now learn this is not completely true since the M channel does contain contents that are panned.
  11. My misunderstanding in the past is that the M channel is equal to mono elements panned in the center. So this is not true because elements panned to the sides also present in the M channel, just without the spacial information. What I've been taught in the past is that EQing a vocal in the M channel won't affect the guitars panned to the sides at all. So it's not true. True Stereo is a signal consists of 2 related channels, with correlated material. Not like Pseudo Stereo, which only duplicates a single channel. That's what I mean. In the 2nd experiment I didn't panned the stereo sounds Hard Left and Right, but in the mid-way. I just wanted to hear how they behave in the M channel. Thank you for taking the time to have this detailed discussion. I really appreciate it.
  12. That's my previous understanding as well until I did the experiments below. I panned 3 true mono sounds to Hard Left, Center and Hard Right and then bounced into a single stereo file. Then I used several plugins with M/S capability to examine the contents of the M and S channel. I can hear all 3 sounds in the M channel. I can only hear the sounds panned to Hard Left and Hard Right in the S channel. I then tried with 3 true stereo sounds, panned to Half Left, Center and Half Right (all with stereo pan mode). I can hear all 3 sounds in the M channel. I can hear all 3 sounds in the S channel.
