  1. Years ago I had a kbd that would put out 'midi jitter' (only the tiniest change) sometimes making the pitch wander the tiniest bit, but enough to be annoying and WRONG. Yes, David's post will help you solve that problem.
  2. I often record a midi part, but later want to modify it in some way.. If it is an important part, I export the midi file. Remember MIDI can only start recording with the first event. Take note if where the part starts. I might label it something like " Horn 1 Measure 31"or I sometimes put an unused CC event on measure 1, beat 1 for easy lining up.. Sometimes you modify the MIDI track so much, you need to get back where you started. Other times I make a copy of midi part - move to end of song - and mute it. If I MUTE a fair amounts of notes (that I might want later for an answering part). I mute it, and move two octaves down.. So it's still easy to get to, if I change my mind or want to use the muted notes for another instrument.
  3. Sometimes I change a midi track too much, and want to go back to what I had.. I shut off audio engine, open an earlier version of project.. Drag it from one project to the new project.. Yet Logic deposits it 2 - 3 tracks below where the cursor was, deleting the original track.. I don't remember this doing this before.. I don't use this function a lot. obviously you can just drag it in after the original track, then move it to desired destination.. so you don't lose anything just 2 steps more today.. I must say now that Logic Pro has really been improving for me.. Running with OSX 11.1 is the best for me.. I work on long projects with lots of changes.. Each change causes a new name "song1,song2,song3' etc " Many times when I get up into the 800+ project, the project will usually get corrupt. bogus markers all over the place, every tracked volume at max - full pan to one side.. Instrument names deformed. With these last two updates, no corruption.. Up to version 1000 now..
  4. I'd love to see more 3rd party physical modeling.. The sounds are getting more realistic, and you don't need all those huge sample libraries. In fact, the apps are miniscule in size.
  5. Apple may be able check it remotely, and get system dumps to see what is eating up CPU power. I updated to Big Sur on a 2015 mac pro 12 core. Logic seems to be running better for me. Less cpu issues. Shut of spotlight indexing, shut off wifi. do not run any other apps.
  6. You can try logic Flex, (I prefer Melodyne). Results will vary, pianos often end up sounding somewhat watery. You also might get audio ticks. It depends significantly on the amount of tempo change. I would try flex or melodyne first on the finished two track mix. If this is unsatisfactory. Make a copy of logic file and it's audio to work on.. Figure out Tempo change. Try the vocals first, listen to voice alone, see if it is OK for you. Then go ahead and redo instruments. It really depends on your impressions, and of course the purpose of project. Some people don't mind the artifacts of changing tempo or pitch.. Personally I would redo it, depends on time spent, $$$$ availability of singers, musicians. etc.

    Phase issue

We used to call those 'artifacts' they add to the realism..
  8. I had up dated to 11.0.1 and Logic 10.6. Everything worked fine for two weeks or so.. I tried to use audio hijack pro, cause I needed an example of a certain drum pattern to copy. Audio Hijack had to be updated. Did that tried to install. Then Logic gave me notice that my audio core (RME fireface800) was missing, Sure enough it was gone from Logic, but still playing system sounds. Audio Hijack hadn't received notice of any issues, but deleted anyway for now. RME mentions various weird issues with older interfaces, but gave a firmware, and software update. Computer is now somewhat corrupt.. Has to boot up 3 times in a row.. First 2 times it crashes, by the 3rd boot upit works.. Logic appears to be fine (one or two AU's not updated, so they just won't load) and the monitor thing. I guess another call to Apple.. and/or re-install OSX again. Thanks for the idea.. I forgot you could extend the keyboard monitor in Logic Environment to 88..
  9. Can someone check and see if their 'keyboard' module in the MIDI Environment page works.. I was having a problem with my Yamaha GENOS keyboard. I got it working but noticed that even though the 'Physical inport' (Box that sums all your MIDI OUTPUT devices) is wired to go through the 'Keyboard' module (where you see the minature keyboard display plated notes) then another monitor (which shows midi in text form_ then to sequencer input.. The 'keyboard' module in MIDI Environment does not work, it does not display notes, but DOES pass them thru to the text monitor and then sequencer.. I hear the notes being played, see them in the text monitor, but not the 'keyboard' monitor.. This used to work last time I checked.. Just wondering if Logic 10.6 stopped it (but then why bother to keep it in MIDI Environment? Thanks.. Although this is not strickly essential, since you have a 2nd monitor (text box).. It certainly is helpful, in trying to track down a MIDI problem
  10. Happening with Big Sur and Logic 10.6. But not all the time. once in a while, I open a project that opened correctly yesterday. Since there are 60 audio tracks, and song is 15 minutes long.. this takes a while.. Then It might work fine the rest of the time.. Just got Logic 10.6 about 6 days ago.
  11. Look at both Logic's cpu window and 'activity monitor app window'.. If the mac is trying to index all the files on your computer or you have a browser open with several pages, that sucks up cpu power, won't be enough for Logic.
  12. It can also happen if you have some heavy CPU processing going on.. Speakers of course make sound by moving in/out very quickly.. If a signal is -5 volts the speaker cone is 'sucked in' 0 volts is when the speaker is in its' middle position + 5 volts is when the speaker is extended to it's outer range. You hear music when the speaker is moving thru it's range -5 volts, crossing 0 volts, and going out to a positive voltage. If a speaker is forced to go from it's from a - voltage to an appreciable + voltage in one step, it will make a very loud pop/crack sound.. AND if your volume is really loud, you could blow the speaker. If I'm using some cpu heavy plug-ins'' like U-HE and I add one too many (now having 5 instances of U-hw VI's running, I will get the pop, and no audio.. Shut off the plug-in that caused the pop, take your other plug-ins, and freeze, or do Boune-in-Place. This will significantly lessen the load on the CPU and you should not have a problem. So, yes, you might have a buggy plug-in, but it also could be Mac's CPU overloading, and not the plug-ins fault
  13. I also owned Logic when run by Emagic. They sold the virtual instruments separate (or at least some of them). There really wasn't much if anything of 3rd party plug-ins.. I bought everything they put out. All of Logic's plug-ins range from decent to very good. I almost never use them anymore. When Apple started up, (I started with Apple II in 1980.. They were everything that PC's were not. I also had a PC, and it was almost impossible to get things to work.. This hardware card, wouldn't work with that driver, someone's software only ran on a certain card.. It was a horror show. Apple had to together that they made the software and hardware.. So much easier. On the same token, I don't like that they 'force' you to only use their brand.. Case in point, VST/AU.. Some small companies wouldn't deal with writing code for both.. MusicLab makes the Real Guitar series.. With VSTS, you could get the actual midi notes out of the plug-in, and feed that to another plug-ins sound generation.. Apple with AU's don't allow that. While I personally don't use apple's stock plug-ins, they are widely recognized, (and it's true) they do the job well. Theie GUI's are not as colorful as 3rd party wares. But what is contained in Logic Pro is certainly enough to get anyone making decent music. They are tools and do a particular job.. Other companies tools, may have more features, but one could get by on Logic alone if they had to.
  14. Does anyone have some RISE SEABOARD presets to use with SWAM? Roli tech support is very lax.. Seaboard is a great alternative controller. In theory not that complex, yet you must get the rangers of sliders and sliders exactly right, for any instrument to respond properly and not sound like everything is out of control. At first I thought SEABOARD was broken. But using it's own instruments, Equator, Strobe, you can hear things are operating correctly. Been going thru videos on line, but a lot of them are older, and windows views on newest update, are slightly different than videos uploaded. Thanx..
  15. Since updating OSX and Logic... Logic doesn't list my last project save, just older ones. and it crashes on loading them.. I have to click on newest project and 'open with Logic'. Also Logic is not saving audio waveform overviews. they all come up as straight lines, Logic then proceeds to draw each waveform. Over 60 audio tracks takes quite a while. I save it then, yet on boot up next day, waveforms straight lines again.. Other than that. Love new OSX and Logic, not all apps plug-ins up to date yet, I can use alternative plug-ins in meanwhile.. Most bug free situation I've had in quite a while. Logic even feels snappier with new OSX
