  1. Hi. I have a couple questions about transcribing a client's piano music that they recorded using MIDI (a piano software instrument). 1. Their tempo does not match the project tempo. Can I use Smart Tempo on MIDI *after* it's recorded? It seems like maybe not? 2. Are there any fancy automated transcription tools/apps I should know about? Perhaps I could turn the recording into an audio file and have an app do the transcription? 3. Is there a way to transfer the Logic score (sheet music) to Musescore directly? Or do I just have to import the MIDI file of the track into Musescore and Musecore creates its own notation? The reason I ask is because Musescore is putting RH (right hand) material in the left hand (bottom) staff, whereas the Logic score is doing a better job putting the RH and LH material in the proper staffs. Thank you! -Theo
  2. Nice! Thank you both! Good to know that key commands are stored in the "audio music apps" folder! I wouldn't have known!!
  3. Hi there, I'm looking for an online backup service where I can upload my Logic folders for now, and then eventually backup my whole computer. Dropbox is super convenient for storing folders etc, but it's not good for a whole-computer backup. I want a service that is convenient for both. Ideas? Also, I'm trying to understand, if I do a whole-computer backup, will the service backup my apps such that if I needed to reinstall Logic from the backup, all my custom-made shortcuts (key commands) will be there for me? Like, does it backup *my* particular version of that app with whatever customized changes I have made in it? Thank you so much!!
  4. Hi, can I repeat regions (using the command-R function or repeat multiple times by entering a number) and have each one overlap/crossfade a certain set amount? The reason I want to do this is because sometimes there's a little pop or snap between one repeated region and the next, and crossfading a tiny bit will get rid of that. So if I want something looped a long time, then I have to manually nudge each one. If I could set it to loop/repeat them with automatic overlap/crossfade, that would be awesome! Thanks!
  5. I really want to have markers that move along with region(s) as I move them. I would imagine this would be a common need. Is it not? Is there a way? Thank you so much!!
  6. Oh my God you all just saved my life!! I hadn't seen these replies til now cause I hadn't used Logic for awhile. THANK YOU SOO MUCH!!!!
  7. Hello! Please help! I'm using Logic 9. Is it possible to read/follow the score of one track while recording on another?? This would be an incredibly helpful and powerful compositional tool, making certain compositional processes waaayyyy more streamlined... but it seems that as soon as I begin playing something on another track while recording, it automatically switches to displaying only the score of the track on which I am recording. Bummer! Please tell me there is a way to follow the score of one track while recording on another, and/or that they improved it for Logic X !! Thank you!! - Theo
  8. Hi, can I copy a single drum sound (a single key's setting) into a different Ultrabeat kit that I am creating? Man, if so, what a relief! I'm using Logic 9. Thank you! -Theo
  9. How do I actually open and use plugin instruments in Logic? (I'm running Logic 9.) I just downloaded and successfully installed two different sampler instruments-- 1) Tal-Sampler and 2) Morgana 112dB They are showing up as "successfully validated" in the Audio Units Manager, though when I first opened Logic after installing them it said they were "crashed validation" or something.. but I clicked on them on the list manually and it checked them and validated them after all. Now they both say "successfully validated". But I have no idea how to actually open them and use them in Logic. Wouldn't it be more obvious? Are they just not working? Or do I not know how to do it? Please help!! Very much thanks!! - Theo
  10. Hey there, I'm wondering if it's possible to create a list (or lists) of your favorite software instruments so that you don't have to navigate through the library every time you want one of them. I'm using Logic Pro 9. Thank you! Best, Theo
  11. Hi there, In Logic Pro 9, is it possible to create a custom drum kit using the "Single Drums" sounds from the EXS24 (or any individual software instruments)? In other words, is it possible to assign different software instrument sounds to different MIDI instrument keys (ie. piano keys) to make a custom kit that plays on one track as its own instrument? Please let me know. If this is not possible, please let me know if I can download plug-in software that will allow me to do this. Also please let me know if this is possible in the latest version of Logic. Thank you so much! Best, Theo
