  1. Ohhh, I just found a fix. I set Multithreading to Playback & Live Tracks from being at Playback only. This solved it and I don't have to be set to a max of 10 processing threads. Here is where I found the tip: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205975
  2. This remedy didn't work for me. I have the same problem and its so annoying. It just started today and I have no idea how or why it started. Let alone to fix it.
  3. This is a problem on my system that suddenly appeared about two/three years ago. Prior to this, I would be able to open an Instrument Track and then load an instrument plug-in and play immediately. However, a little over two years ago, all of sudden, I couldn't hear any sound after loading an instrument. I noticed that the midi channel in the channel strip defaults to 'All' (which I assume is normal), but the instrument would be set to channel '1' (or '3' in the case of Omnisphere and Trilian). So I have since just set my Work Template accordingly, but its still a nuisance when I then do have to load a new instrument in my template. So every time I load an instrument now I always have to also set the channel strip setting to midi channel '1' in order to get a sound. Has anyone ever encountered this? Was there un update that I installed that caused this? Or did I accidentally change a setting? Much thanks for you help! Best, Alexander
  4. Yeah, I’ll take a gander at that, but I can’t imagine the audio tail is over one minute long. I have 5 other sessions with the same template for these cues and the don’t behave like this. But I’ll take a look at that, thanks
  5. On two separate sessions now, with a couple months in between, my Bounce function behaves weirdly and goes past the end of the Cycle Range that I had set. It would go about 1 min over. I have tried many different things that didn't work, and now the only solution for delivery to dub stage is to take all the Bounces (approx 12 stems) and reimport them to a new session and manually cut the dead space off the end and re-export. Had anyone experienced this and found a solution? Thanks, Alex
  6. Sorry, I may not have the correct terms when stating that, but what I was told, and after years of defragging hard drives, the smaller size SSD for your OS drive is recommended because the info isn't spread to far around and takes less time to read as time goes by and you start filling up your SSD. So, for media composers, its best to keep your OS to even a 512GB if is just your DAW's on there and keep your work and samples on separate drives (which then would be beneficial to be 2TB -4TB and so on...). If you keep your music library and photos and emails on that same machine, then yeah, go for the bigger SSD's for sure. I can't imagine that it would hurt your DAW performance by any micro measures that you will notice on normal/medium size projects.
  7. I have some tracks that I want to draw in my own automation with the Mod Wheel on my keyboard, or with the assigned fader on my AKAI MPD226 controller. However, even though I can hear the mod wheel works with the dynamics function in the plug-in (strings), nothing gets written during playback in either Touch, Latch or Write mode. I thought I could just put the automation mode to Latch and when I would hit Play, the controller movements would be recorded in the track. No? Thanks, Alex
  8. SOLVED! I appeared in the 'Controller Assignments', I have 'Learned' a couple assignments. I deleted those and it went back to normal and I got my Mod Wheel back. (PHEW!!!)
  9. During an attempt to make my mod wheel work for automating Modulation in a plug in on a track (that is for a whole other post), I managed to disable my Mod Wheel completely while messing around in the Automation Preferences. The Pitch Bend still works, but now the mod wheel doesn't respond at all. I shut down the machine without saving, but it still didn't work anymore upon rebooting. For example: I've loaded a string ensemble in Albion Orchestra by Spitfire. The Mod Wheel doesn't react to the dynamics at all as it used to by default. What did I do, and how can I get my mod wheel back? Thanks so much gang. Alex
  10. Thanks for all your info, guys! Much appreciated and helpful! I have found my best set up now and happy I don't have to crawl other the $10k mark: 10core 1TB drive (2TB is not recommended. Smaller is faster and samples and work are all on other drives anyways) Full RAM 128GB Vega 56 8GB I just spoke to a specialist at Apple and here is what he had to say for us Logic users! Me: "I want to know the advantage of a 10-core with 3.0GHz that can turbo boost only up to 4.5GHz, versus the 14-core with only 2.5GHz but can turbo boost all the way up to 4.3GHz. The difference of turbo boost only being 0.2GHz between the two, but with 14-core you get more threads for more channel strips in Logic but with 10 core you get faster processor speed? " Apple: "Zach replies that you are right for software like Logic that won’t realistically take advantage of all the cores available in the 14 core model. You’ll benefit more from having fewer, faster cores like with the 10-core." Additionally we chatted: Me: "Im looking to buy the iMac Pro for music production with Logic Pro X But I heard that Logic only untilize up to 24 threads (12 cores)' Is this true? Would it be better for music production that I get the 10core?" Apple: "Zach agrees that the two extra cores aren’t really going to give you a lot of extra value for audio production and recommends, the 10 core for you." Me: "Im gonna configure it a bit. Looking at the graphics card right now. I will be using 2, maybe 3 external Monitors. Would the Vega 56 with 8GB be good enough? I think the Vega 64 might be a bit overkill for me" Apple: "So with the Vega 56 it can easily handle two 5k displays or 4 4k displays. Really the main reason to go with the Vega 64 is just to add a bit extra longevity, and to give yourself some flex to move into higher res over the next number of years as those become more common. We’d definitely recommend that (Vega 64) more for folks working heavily in video" Look at the attached pic for my opinion on the best configuration for a film/tv scoring configuration.
  11. I even took out my DVD drive in my iMac and put another SSD in there for samples.
  12. True. I noticed an amazing performance after switching my entire setup to all SSD's. All work drives, sample drives and my Home HD is all SSD now and helps a lot when reading automation and running video.
  13. I guess this question is more for media composers for tv/film that need to load 600+ track tamplate and running video. I’m really trying to get away from the split system and not having to use a slave for my samples.
  14. I want to know the advantage of a 10-core with 3.0GHz that can turbo boost only up to 4.5GHz, versus the 14-core with only 2.5GHz but can turbo boost all the way up to 4.3GHz. The difference of turbo boost only being 0.2GHz between the two, but with 14-core you get more threads for more channel strips in Logic but with 10 core you get faster processor speed? Or no? Thanks, and merry music be with you. Alex
