  1. When you say “the current way the dialogue box works” - I don’t get a dialogue box at all. What are you seeing?
  2. I’m on 10.8.1. I originally had the problem in 10.7.8, then it got fixed (must have been in 10.8.0 judging by the release notes you mentioned). Now it’s back again but worse than before.
  3. If this is an intentional change, then that's really disappointing. Ideally, healing regions and joining non-contiguous regions should be two entirely separate commands, but if they have to share, then there should be at least the option of a warning for those of us who need it in our workflow (it could easily be one of those warnings that gets a "don't show this again" check box). Or even better, they should separate out Heal Regions into its own key command.
  4. That's rather disappointing. Is there any workaround to flip through sounds on an individual drum?
  5. I'm going through snare drum presets on a Drum Machine Designer patch. I've selected the Snare 1 track within the track stack, opened the library, selected "Enable Patch Marging", and then made sure that only "Instruments" is selected. But whenever I selected a new Snare patch from the Library, it loads all the FX, busses and fader level. What am I doing wrong, and how can I just change the instrument?
  6. This wasn't the bug - it was the side chain itself that was out of time, rather than it making actual audio move. BUT I have had the exact problem you're mentioning recently. The good news is it didn't happen often. The bad news is I can't remember which session it was happening on now so I can't be of much help! I do remember wondering if it was a side-effect of fixing the original bug.
  7. Ha, went looking for that in the key commands, and right next to it was " Remove Overlaps For Repeated" which is exactly what I'm after! 😀
  8. I would like to remove overlapping MIDI notes, but only where the same note is overlapping itself - i.e. it only shortens the note if it overlaps with another note on the same line in piano roll. The standard Remove Overlaps command won't work this as it shortens notes if *any* other note plays, which is not what I want. I just want to clean up re-triggers of the same note. Is there any way to do this?
  9. This bug is back for me in 10.8.1 but worse than before - I can't get it to give a warning at all. Just bounces immediately if the regions are non-contiguous.
  10. RAM is cheap nowadays but, unless you are very rich, it is not cheap on Macs. The upgrade from 32GB to 64GB (your example) on a new machine is $400/£400. This cannot be circumvented with third party RAM. The cheapest machine it's possible to buy with 64GB RAM is $2,400/£2,500 (and much more if you need a laptop). Apple still sells very expensive machines - that will stretch many peoples' budgets to their limits, and in all other respects have more power than most music producers need - that come with 8GB RAM. They have justified this in the press by saying that their systems are so efficient that you don't need so much RAM. I think more efficient loading of samples (a long-solved software problem) would be a reasonable way to match this rhetoric.
  11. Oh wow - great catch! In fact it looks like you can even fully unload instruments by selecting "none"! I never would have thought to look in the Controls view.
  12. I'm having a weird issue with one of my sessions where instigating Side Chain on any plugin at all causes lots of the tracks to play out of time. As soon as I select a side chain source on any plugin, everything starts to sound like a pre-school band. (Logic 10.8.1, macOS 13.6.3, Intel). Has anyone else seen this issue? If all else fails I'll import all the tracks into a new session (often fixes random issues if there's corruption) but wanted to check if this was a known issue first. (I wonder if this is connected to the recent fix for the old PDC bug. Maybe some routing setups get it confused?)
  13. Good idea - unfortunately the different drums are intermingled so I can't set a range that would just encompass "snare". There might be a way to do this with MIDI FX though. And probably in the Environment, although it might be getting to the stage where my 'easier workflow' is a lot more work, haha This isn't really a power issue (apart from the general need to freeze/bounce). More a workflow thing. Another good idea that didn't quite work in practice - the version that comes up in Sampler doesn't sound the same, and doesn't have the same easy control of parameters like room dampening. (EDIT - deleted the bit about using Aliases instead. Wouldn't work!)
  14. Indeed, I remember it well! As mentioned in the original post, I was trying to avoid that on this occasion. Not a big deal - just looking for a faster workflow. I wish after all these years Apple would finally add the ability to freeze multi-output instruments. Thanks for confirmation that it’s not possible to unload.
