  1. Hey all, In Bryson Tiller's "The Sequence" he samples Shai's "Sexual" throughout the entire song. Bryson: Shai: So from the get go (literally at 0:00) he has that low-pass/mixed with a certain type of EQing effect that I can't seem to get on my samples. Is it dependent largely on the sample itself? If it isn't does anyone know how to achieve that sound? The effect on the sample puts it in the back as well as makes it pop, how in the world....??? Thanks all, YG
  2. Hey all, I'm looking to create the effect that is exhibited in the 808/bass line that "40" Shebib creates on this track starting at 0:10 I'm not sure what to call it, but it's like a dragging bassline/tonally moving 808. Let me know what you think. - YG
  3. So the Filter worked perfectly, what's awesome about the plug-in is that you're able to shape the depth of the pulse any way you want. There are other ways to do this, the technique is called a Pulsing/Pulsating Synth: But this works just fine. Thanks all!
  4. There's this fading in-n-out synth that's in both of these songs: at 0:42 & at 0:53 (NOTE: Small speakers may not be able to pick it up, use headphones to hear depth/change.) it's like a repeating synth on a tremolo maybe? did they use an arpeggiator to create the rhythm and then put it through tremolo pedal? let me know what you think... Thanks all for the help! -YG
  5. Thanks ya'll. I know LP forum isn't necessarily the ideal place to look for legal advice but it's good to hear inputs from other musicians/artists/producers! If anyone else has other opinions please voice them! Our works are our babies!
  6. I apologize in advance if this is not the right place to post this question. So I have recently finished a project and am getting ready to release it publicly. My question is: by publishing the work on Youtube/soundcloud/iTunes/any media with a timestamp: does that qualify as a copyright? When you purchase a copyright from the actual government office, you're essentially purchasing a timestamp for your work. Doesn't publishing an original work that no one has, on social media that have timestamps for everything, essentially count as the same thing? Will I be protected? Thanks everyone, YG
  7. So the new song with Ne-Yo, prod. by Dr. Luke, has an 808 throughout the song below 0:06 mark and the mapped-808 sounds like a low-freq. 808... but somehow small speakers are able to discern the note. (laptop speakers etc.) How is this possible? Is it a layer of some sort of higher freq. bass? It sounds like a standalone 808. Where can I get the low note 808 or build my low note 808s that can also be heard on small/low end speakers? Thanks for the clarification ya'll, much appreciated also if you can help with replication! - YG
  8. Hey all, thanks a bunch for the replies, a simple reinstallation and DOUBLE reboot seemed to do the trick, it was weird I'm not sure how that happened. But I'll report back here in case any other problems.
  9. Thanks for the link triplets, but my mac still recognizes the 2i2 and I am not running maverick anyway.
  10. Yes, I've tried the reboot, still nothing :/ And yes the built-in audio works fine.
  11. Hey all, (LOGIC X VERSION 10.0.3) I have a project that plays back just fine through the built-in output settings. I've hooked up my 2i2 (Focusrite) to lay down some vocals one day and it worked just fine- the track played back through headphones, and the monitor was working perfectly. Fast forward 2 days later, I plug the 2i2 back into the Mac, change the audio driver settings, but NOTHING is being played back. The levels of the track are not even moving when the project is played back (showing that nothing is actually playing). I've tried it on several different files/projects and the same deal. Any help?
