  1. I recorded a quick synth line with a software instrument in Logic and everything sounds fine - but when I export the file as an .mp3, there is inexplicable crackling hum at a few points in the track that I don't understand. I don't hear the hums/clicks in Logic while I'm listening to the track, only after I export it as an .mp3 (there is no hum/noise when I export the file as a .wav). Does anyone have ideas why exporting as an .mp3 would introduce noise/hum? Thanks.
  2. My mistake! Picture of the Bounce menu with mp3 option selected is attached to this post - is there anything I should change here? I bounced an mp3 of the project with normalize on vs. normalize on and monitored the difference in a blank project...sure enough, with normalize on, the peak was about the same as it was in the original project (between -12db and -10db). Looks like the normalize option was the problem after all. Thanks.
  3. Howdy. Normalize WAS selected on the bounce menu, as can be seen in the picture. The L2 wasn't on during the bounce. The second track in the second picture ("The Litany") was also an mp3 that I bounced from another project. However, it peaked at about -13db in the original project AND when I bounced it as an mp3 and uploaded it back into a Logic project. Ironically enough, the Normalize setting was also set to "On" when I pulled up the bounce menu on the original folder, but I'm not having any issues with this track. It's only the first one for some reason. Thanks for your reply!
  4. I noticed a few tracks that I had been working on sounded significantly louder on a sound source other than my computer speakers/monitor speakers (headphones, car stereo, etc.). After a number of tweaks, I decided to bounce the track as an mp3, reload it into an empty Logic project, and see what the meter said. The second screen shot is the highest the meter got to when I put the mp3 into an empty Logic project. The first screen shot is the highest the meter got in the original project. I'm a little baffled as to how the track can get significantly louder when bounced as an mp3, and feel like I may be missing something obvious. Thanks for any help.
  5. Are you clicking on the .logic files in the browser? This is what it should look like:
  6. There's a section of a song that I'd like to remove out of an existing project and place into a brand new project. I packed the 3 tracks (drums, guitar, bass) into a folder to keep them all together. Is there a way to export the folder and then unpack it into a new project with all the same channel strip settings? Thanks
  7. This is more of a Mac OSX question than a Logic question, but I figure someone here will be able to help me anyway. I have a 3tb backup HDD and a 1tb HDD that I plan on running all my Logic files from. Is there any way to set up the 1tb HDD to back itself up to the 3tb HDD? Or do I have to manually back it up every time? Thanks.
  8. Problem: I live in an apartment and can't mic up a cab or a drum set for recording, so I typically use Guitar Rig and Addictive Drums. I have a desktop that isn't very portable. However, I have a laptop that's a couple of years old, but can't run Logic very well (I've tried already). If I used the same interface, same sample rate, same mics, etc., but recorded it in Garageband, would there be a significant difference in the quality of the recording? I would export the files later onto my desktop and edit them there in Logic...so my main question is, will the software affect the quality of the recording?
  9. Easy enough, I thought this would be the case but I've never tried so I didn't know for sure. Thank you!
  10. I've been considering purchasing a set of electronic drums in the near future to use for recording purposes in my apartment. From what I understand, you can either record the audio from the kit, or the MIDI data from hitting the pads...is it possible to record both at once? Thanks
  11. A project I recently finished. Thanks for watching and/or listening!
  12. It kind of sounds like The Cure and Radiohead mixed together in a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Good vibes
