  1. This doesn't work. The installer complains that it cannot be installed from a network resource. Creating .dmg files and installing from those does work however. In fact, I'm currently in the middle of doing just that
  2. So... any results? My macbook pro retina will be here Monday, and I'm wanting to be able to use it as my music computer too (its primary purpose is as an iOS development machine). My dilemma is where to record to. I've got a USB 3.0 hard drive that I plan on using for all sample content, but I'm afraid if I tried to use a hub to power two USB drives that they wouldn't get enough power, so I'm hesitant to purchase a second USB drive. This thread has me thinking I may be okay recording to the internal SSD. Have you tested this, and is it a viable option? I've always been hesitant to record to the main drive, but I'm guessing this might not be such an issue with SSD?
  3. Can anybody let me know if it no longer reloads content for Kontakt when doing a "Save As"? If so, I may just jump in and update even though I really should wait until I'm done with my current project. It would probably save me a ton of time even if I did run into bumps with the update; I Save As like a mad man.
  4. I'd rather just not have menus I use Safari on my production machine, and on my iPhone. That's more than enough of it for me.
  5. It turns out the Duet was set to Instrument out instead of Line out, which disabled the volume control. I felt a strange mixture of stupidity and relief when I realized that
  6. Is the update going to fix the missing menu problem in Chrome? I sure hope it does
  7. Didn't help. But, it was certainly worth a try. Thanks.
  8. Did the update, and now the OS X volume control does nothing. Well, it does mute the audio if I turn it all the way down, but turning it up, even a quarter of a notch, puts it at full volume (the display still shows the volume changing, but it most certainly is not). Also, my Duet no longer even has access to volume. I press the button to swich what the knob controls, and it cycles through the preamps, and the midi control, but skips right past volume I already tried reinstalling the Duet software, but to no avail. So for now, the only way to control volume is on a per app (and per-project) basis, which really sucks
  9. That's one of the things I love about it What chords does the 8 have? Mine has Bb, F, C, G, D, and A in both major and minor, as well as single notes labled bass. The bass buttons are in the same octave as the the lower octave of the keyboard, so I don't know if I'd consider them bass, but I figure I might be able to use them for different chord combinations with the chord buttons, or for a chorusing effect with those same notes from the keyboard, or whatever. I didn't know that! I'll have to give that a try. I haven't had a whole lot of time with it yet. I bought it Sunday morning, and had to leave town that afternoon. I won't be back until Friday That's just part of the character if you ask me
  10. I was thrift store shopping yesterday, and stumbled across a Bontempi 16 Electric Chord Organ. I've never found any used gear from a thrift store or garage sale before, so I was pretty stoked 8) It looks like it was made in the late 70s or early 80s. I'm not sure though, and couldn't find a manufacture date anywhere on it. A google search didn't turn up any information on this specific model either, although I didn't try that hard. Either way it seems to have been taken pretty well care of (considering it's made of cheap plastic), and still sounds great! It uses an electric fan to blow air over plastic reeds, giving it a cheap, obscene, accordion-like organ sound that's full of character Anybody else ever play one of these?
  11. This post doesn't really belong here. Please read the forum guidelines, especially #1 and #4. After doing a search to make sure your question hasn't already been answered I recommend you repost your question in The Control Room.
  12. That's the only reason I bothered to learn PT. There are some things in PT (besides what you already mentioned) that I actually like better than Logic. For example, PTs handling of hiding tracks, and grouping tracks is much more graceful IMO. But, I'm not sure if Logic could really "copy" the way PT does it without some major interface overhauls that would probably do much more harm than good. I've never understood the whole My DAW is better than Your DAW argument anyways. Logic works the best for me, but why on earth should I care if it works the best for the next person
  13. ¡Bienvenidos! We'll need more information before anybody can help you. Please read the forum guidelines, especially #1 and #5. Also, how is the nanoPad connected? Is it plugged in straight to the computer, or through a USB hub, or something else? Do you experience any latency problems trying to control any other instruments (such as EXS24, Ultrabeat, etc.) with the nanoPad?
  14. Reason can be pretty fun to work with, but rewiring does get old, fast. I just never found enough in Reason (version 4), to make it worth the trouble. I don't even have it installed on either of my computers right now. I've still got it, in case I ever change my mind, but I'm pretty sure I'll never install it again. The new drum instrument, Kong, in Reason 5 does look pretty sweet to me, but it's the only thing in the upgrade that interests me, so not worth the money, time, or effort. Plus, I don't like the name; I misread it as Korg every time I look at it .
