  1. Thanks for the reponses everyone. At least you've confirmed the I'm not alone. I was going to do a new install, but now I won't. One more question...when you do choose yes, are you finding that your project tempo changes to 120bpm? It's interesting that it would alter it at all if it's not going to import it correctly. Thanks
  2. Hello, I am hoping someone can help me with a tempo issue that has been happening since I purchased a new midi pack for Superior Drummer 2. Before the purchase everything was working fine. I was using an older version of El Capitan with an older version of Logic X. I have updated to Catalina and Logic 10.4.8 while trying to solve my issue. The problem is that whenever I drag a groove or fill from SD2 into Logic, and choose to import it's tempo from the dialog box, it will not import the tempo, and Logic will default to the tempo of 120 BPM. If I choose NOT to import tempo, Logic will stay at the tempo Im working with. Obviously all of my recorded audio from whatever tempo I am working at no longer matches up. The behavior is the same no matter what tempo mode I choose (KEEP, ADAPT,AUTO). I reached out to Apple, and they were amazing. Super helpful, but no fix. They said that because I was able to import tempos correctly when using Apple loops that it was most likely a SD2 issue. Again everything worked fine before I purchased a new midi pack. I contacted Toontrack, and they said that SD2 didn't support that function (really? its a drum program), and no fix was scheduled because SD2 had been discontinued. My question to you is if there is another possible setting that I've overlooked (it was working fine), or if there is a setting to keep Logics tempo locked at the projects tempo when I drag a groove in. The fact that I can't import the tempo is one problem. The fact that Logic defaults back to 120 is another. They only action that keeps the project's tempo from changing is if I say no in the dialog box. If I say yes to import the tempo then I get 120 BPM every time. Any help to keep the tempo from acting this way would be great!!! Thanks, Joe
  3. Hi, I'm currently Using Logic 10.3.3 and SD 2.4.4. I am having a problem as well. I have never had as issue with tempos before. Now if I drag a SD groove into logic, I get the new pop up as you have described earlier. If i choose to import the groove's tempo, logic's tempo stays at 120. It doesn't change. If I change Logic's tempo to anything else first, and then import a groove with it's tempo, Logic will default back to 120 bpm. It will never import the groove's tempo. It's like there is a tempo lock on, or a Follow Host setting has been altered. Although, once the groove is imported into Logic, I can adjust the Logic's tempo, and the groove's tempo will follow along. Weird. This "import temp" pop up looks different from when it worked correctly. Any help would be great!! Thanks, Joe
  4. Hi, I don't have the project demo in the Project Chooser section, but I did find it in the Help drop down. When I click on it the project acts like it is about to open, but then nothing happens. Then the Logic app "header" goes grayish and then it freezes. The only way to get back into Logic is to force quit and reopen. At that point no project is open. When I click on the project demo again in the help drop down it says that I have one save and another one that has been auto saved. If I pick either one it behaves the same way. It act like it's opening, but then nothing happens. Then the header goes gray, and Logic freezes. Any ideas? Thanks!
  5. Thanks for the response Eric. I wasn't sure if one was more user friendly. I'll give it a shot. Thanks, Joe
  6. I just picked up a sony PS-LX300USB turntable with "usb output for easy vinyl to mp3 conversions" written on the box. It comes with the Audacity software for Windows users but nothing for Mac users. It recommends that Mac users download it from the internet. Is this necessary? Can I use Logic X for this? Are there any know issues while recording longer tracks with logic? Any help on why one is better/necessary over the another would be helpful. Maybe I'm missing something. Thanks Joe

  8. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
  9. Thanks! Sorry for the late response. Unfortunately I am not sure. Is there a way to see how I handled the bounces? I need to do a little more homework. I am still learning, and I am not educated enough to know when to use different formats. Are their recommended scenarios for "home" use. I have no intention of doing more than working with my iMac and within Logic X. Thanks, Joe
  10. Hi, All of my bounced files are gray in every Bounce folder in every project if I access them in Logic. If I look with Finder they are there and they are fine. Is that normal behavior? I've never noticed which is really odd to me. If I bounce anything it will populate in the bounce folder while the project is open, but it will be gray and I can't do anything with it except right click and move it to the trash. Any ideas why I can work with my bounces in Finder but not in Logic? Any help would be great. Thanks, Joe
  11. My take away was David's idea of leaving one bar of silence between sections of a song. That's was a slick way of giving it a chance to breath, or at least finish up a phrase completely before starting a new one. I wasn't sure what to expect, but to pick up a nice trick like that was worth a few technical difficulties. Joe
  12. Hi, It was human error. After working on it a little more I was able to figure out what I was doing wrong. I was under the impression that I set the pads using the learn function of SD. That is incorrect. Once I set the midi value on the percpad I was able to retain the different kit pieces. Sorry for the rookie mistake! Thanks, Joe
  13. Hi, Thanks for the response! Sorry for posting a question in the wrong forum. I will work on your suggestions asap. I understand how my piano roll issue sounds weird. I'm not understanding the behaviour myself. After recording a take, If I change any assigned kit piece on the percpad then the region plays differently. I am obviously assigning the new piece to the formerly used midi note, but superior does't give me the pop up warning that usually happens when this function is performed. Also, there is a blue description of the controller note in the mapping tab next to the learn button which reflects each specific articulation. They change when you select a different kit piece or articulation. I have made sure that it is different than the original sound's value before assigning the new sound to the pad. The second take percpad midi events will record properly to the new midi notes in the piano roll, but any sounds that comes out of the region are whatever the percpad is currently set to if that makes sense. Sorry for repeating myself, but I want to make sure I am clear in case this is human error on my part. I have not touched any other setting in logic's piano roll. Any change is just by using the learn function within Superior. It seems that I am somehow accomplishing what you mentioned with the Midi In button, buy I'm not sure how. Thanks again, Joe
  14. I just picked up an Alesis percpad to use with Superior Drummer in Logic X. Here's my issue... Since there are only four pads, My intent was to use the learn function of SD to set the four pads to a basic kit (bass, snare, Hi Hat and Ride) and then record a region. Then I would reset the pads (to toms 1,2,3,4), again with the learn function of SD, and record any needed fills in the same region. Then repeat the process for the cymbals. Basically overlap the instruments of a kit due to the lack of pads. What I found was that once I changed the pads, any previously recorded midi event would change to the new percpad setting as well. So during playback, the previous Hi hat would play as Tom 1,or whatever. Whats interesting is that the midi events would not move in the piano roll. I tried putting the toms and cymbals on separate tracks so that no changes would need to be made to the SD instrument and/or the percpad once it was set up, but then I had extra faders in the mixer with weird SD mic groupings on them. So, I guess my question is, can I use the percpad to join/merge overlapping takes in the same region? How do I use a controller with four pads to control all the possible sounds available in Superior Drummer while maintaining the previously recorded midi events in the piano roll? The pad plays the last kit piece "learned" and not what it has previously recorded. I hope that makes sense to someone. Thanks, Joe
