  1. I can only seem to open Step Editor as a separate window rather than having it replace the piano roll portion of the window at the bottom. Is it possible to open it attached to the main arrange window? As an alternative, when I double click a MIDI region, I have the little menu options at the top, "Piano Roll", "Score", "Step Sequencer", and "Smart Tempo". Can I change out 'Step Sequencer' for 'Step Editor'?
  2. The MIDI thing isn't a worry anymore - the track delay does exactly what I need. But it's not available on an audio track, which is what I'd like. I appreciate the input, but that would make things way more complicated. There's plenty of workarounds, but the point is that in other DAWs (say, Ableton) there is track delay in milliseconds feature available on the side of every single track, and when you are messing with drum feels, etc, it makes things really creative and easy. I was just hoping I missed an simple feature.
  3. Last week my mind was blown when I realized software instruments have a track-based delay parameter, where you can offset a track forward or back by however many ms or samples you want. This is huge for me, because some software instruments (strings for example) need to be offset to be timed correctly, and region based delay is really annoying.. ex. if you join regions with a delay on them, it shifts the new regions by the offset. Today though, I realized there is apparently no track delay in the same spot for an audio track. Is there any way to do a track delay for audio?? I know about the sample delay plugin, but that only helps if I want to move something later.
  4. I used to be able to set the option "Bar Position [...] Plays at SMPTE [...]", and, as an example, have 01:00:00:00 start on bar 7. But something weird is happening, where when I do exactly that, it's setting bar 5 to 01:00:00:09.1065. I tried removing the movie I have in, but it's still messed up. Is there a known bug??
  5. I have a weird issue that's only happened on my new M1 Max MBP, basically when I'm recording something, the playback will just stop out of nowhere, go back to the beginning of my cycle, and stop recording. I've been using Logic for ten years so this is definitely not something I've seen before. I'm using Logic in Rosetta mode at the moment but this happens with and without Rosetta mode on. Anyone else experiencing this?
  6. I'm having a weird issue since getting things going on my new M1 laptop... If I have Kontakt open (or actually, Komplete Kontrol.. I haven't tested Kontakt directly), and I go to type in the library search bar within Kontakt, my typing will work for a few letters and then sometimes switch to controlling Logic shortcuts. I don't remember this happening in the past, does anyone else have this issue? Is there any way to workaround it?
  7. It seems sometimes 'New Track with Same Instrument' has a separate name to the original track - as in, I can rename the track and the original track name doesn't change to match it. Other times, the name stays the same between the tracks. What causes this difference in naming? It's like there's two different types of labels for every track and sometimes one shows and sometimes another shows.
  8. When I'm recording say, MIDI, in a cycle, it'll randomly start from the beginning again and finalize the MIDI I had played up to that point. A friend of mine who also just switched to an M1 MBP is having the same issue. The only other similarity is that we both use UA Apollo interfaces, and I'm not sure if those are actually M1 compatible yet. Anyone else experiencing this??
  9. Wow, you are correct. I think in the flurry of weird logic behavior I was experiencing last night with Monterey, I assumed this was another strange thing. Nevermind!
  10. I just got the new M1 Max and now I'm using the new Logic for the first time, and I believe behavior in Logic changed. I wanted to check if I'm crazy. If I'm in piano roll, and the playhead position is off to the right somewhere, I used to be able to click and drag in the piano roll timeline to quickly move the playhead. Now when I do that, if there's an active MIDI region in the area, it actually moves the entire region. Is this new behavior?? How can I disable this??
  11. Figured it out. This has never been an issue in the past so it must be either a new bug with Logic or a new bug due to Catalina and/or my MBP 16". It's because my main screenset has the project audio files tab open. If I have that tab open, any actions that cause the project audio files list to change at all cause a massive delay.

  13. I'm having a similar problem with the repeat command using marquee tool. Specifically, when I have no overlap mode on, and I move regions over other regions to replace them. Regions copy across but then a lot of regions will disappear or move places. Very strange. I'm also noticing some MIDI regions don't copy at all unless you delete any regions in the new area.
