Hey all, first time poster here and I'm excited to be a part of such a knowledgeable community.
I have been a Logic user of over three years now and have loved it, but lately its been almost unusable. I was running an old M-Audio Firewire 410 with Logic 8, and was having some CPU issues as well as connectivity issues with the interface.
Somewhat frustrated I upgraded to Snow Leopard, Logic 9, installed a new 7200 RPM hard drive (had a 5400 before), upgraded to 4GB RAM from 2, and replaced the old M-Audio with an Apogee Duet. Essentially I updated and upgraded everything besides replacing the Macbook Pro's CPU itself.
My Logic performance is now noticeably WORSE than before. I have 8-10 track projects that the computer simply cannot play before I get awful clicks, pops, and those lovely CPU warnings.
I have googled and browsed furiously for tweaks to make this work (I know Logic CPU problems are not exactly rare). I am buffering at 1024, keeping audio tracks selected instead of instruments, and have optimized EXS as best I can. I am also bussing as much as possible.
I am posting my problem here as a last resort. I have ran out of things to try. I am a huge fan of Logic, but nothing I love about it does me any good when I can't actually make music. Worse yet is when it affects business--working on projects with clients is a crapshoot.
Does anyone know of anything else I can do or try? It is at the point where I am forced to question if I can continue to use Logic (I would really, really hate to switch). Any ideas are greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!
