  1. When I click a Select button on a channel strip on my Mackie Control in Logic the track selected automatically opens the Instrument Plugin window. Is there a setting in Logic to stop this?
  2. Seems you are correct. The only other way I can think of is to save it as a project, then you can import tracks from it when you need them.
  3. There are two types of Track Stack, try both types. Pretty sure it will save routing as I have used it for a Superior Drummer setup using a Multi Output instance routed to Auxes.
  4. Put it inside a Track Stack, then you can save as a Patch (accessible from the library), then when you need it create a blank channel strip and apply this patch and it will load all your settings.
  5. So I put a midi monitor on the output of Kontakt standalone and only see Note Ons, not sure if this is the cause? I tried a different library by Soundiron called Symphony Series Woodwinds that also has an Arpeggiator and get the same result. So I am guessing both use the same built-in Kontakt functionality but may be wrong. What I find weird is that during recording the notes look the right length, but when recording stops the single note off generated by lifting off the keyboard is where all notes extend to. Is this expected behaviour? It seems like the single Note Off is overriding the incoming note lengths? Maybe its just not possible, but it seems the Kontakt Arpeggiator does not generate note offs. Is there some kind of Kontakt script that could add these for each note?
  6. Just to check currently not using IAC, the port going into Logic is the Kontakt Virtual Output. So should I not be placing a monitor on that? I can see notes coming in in the environment, can I not just monitor that?
  7. You maybe right. It appears to look like the sustain pedal is on. The weird thing is during recording the note lengths look okay, its once recording stops all notes jump to the end in length.
  8. I have been experimenting with trying to record Kontakt script generated notes into Logic, specifically with "The Orchestra", which uses arpeggiators to create rhythms. What I did was to open a standalone instance of Kontakt, set it to output script generated notes and makes sure the Kontakt Virtual Output is switched on. I also set Logic to output sync with the external Kontakt to lock both tomthe same tempo. Here is the issue. If I record a passage, while it is recording the note lengths appear to look about right, correct notes, velocity data etc. Once recording is stopped the note lengths change and each note extends from its start point right to the end of the passage. So each note overlaps and extends to the end of the region. I have checked to make sure no quantising is set on record in the inspector. I just cannot seem to work out why it changes after I stop recording? Any ideas why this is happening, or is this a bug in the way Logic deals with midi from script generated notes?
  9. Me again! VIC down so asking this here. Using your multiport environment solution is there a way to Mute/Solo each "Port" without using Auxes? I cannot see a way to do this with the Event Input VSL solution as each track that is inserted is a Software Instrument track but the audio routes back through the main track thats hosting the VEP Server plugin.
  10. I have a MacBook Pro 17 Mid 2010 and its maximum RAM memory is stuck at 8GB. Ive tried 16GB and despite trying everything including upgrading to High Sierra, it just wont boot with 16GB – used the recommended PC38500 DDR3 1066: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06ZYC9225 It gets 3/4 way into startup screen then switches off and restarts endlessly. I see many users with mobile setups and wondered how they manage. After starting up my RAM monitor shows about 4GB free! Then once I have Logic open I have very little memory left to use. If I open a project and add more than about 4-5 Kontakt instruments it seizes, totally useless for anything other than auditioning sounds. Things I tried to upgrade memory: 1. Tried to find newer firmware as upgrading to High Sierra did not seem to update it, to no avail. The EFI firmware is 1.7 and any version I found newer would not install saying "not compatible with this system". 2. Tried to Safe Boot but it would not do it. 3. Tried to run memory diagnostics and it would not run. Had a globe symbol with a question mark! This is the link that made me think it might work: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/confirmed-mid-2010-macbook-pro-17-inch-16gb.2098643/ So I wondered if: 1. How do others get round this? Is there a way to force the system to use free SSD space for memory? 2. Is there a way to add 16GB on a MBP 17 Mid 2010?
  11. Ha, you caught me posting in two places!!
  12. Here is my goal: load a Multi of Kontakt instruments inside Vienna Ensemble Pro and have control of each instrument via its own Midi channel and route independent audio back to Logic. So far I have always used the 1 Logic Track / 1 Kontakt instance approach (even if the items inside have multiple Kontakt patches). Exploring with VEP having a family of instruments eg Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello, Bass inside one VEP instance. Now I know the convention is Multitimbral Track in Logic with a Multi Output plugin then create AUX tracks in the Logic Mixer. What happens if you just use the Multi Output plugin then create AUX tracks in the Logic Mixer? I can see they still have separate Midi channels when you "Create Tracks From Auxes". Am I able to record and process Midi on each Aux Track? The reason I ask is that when you use the conventional method you end up with two faders for each track one for the Multitimbral slot and one for the audio. Do I have to do it this way and what are the pros/cons?
  13. Does anyone know if its possible to include a Group Setting in a Patch or Channel Strip Setting. Say I have a group of tracks all routed to Group 5, saving them as a Track Stack patch or saving each one as a patch or channel strip setting seems to remove the Group set. Just looking for a way to create pre-routed tracks so I can instantly add say Hollywood Strings as a patch and have all 5 instruments loaded with FX, Routing, Scripts and the Group they belong to. All works apart from the Group setting.
  14. Trying to set up an iPad to trigger Key Commands, especially using the extra Toggle Hide Groups. Successfully set up 1-31, but even though have checked everything is set up right and no Key Command conflicts just cannot get Toggle Hide Group 32 to trigger from either a Key Command or a Controller Assignment. I can click the tick box in the Groups window and it will Show/Hide, but not any other way. Not sure if this is a bug, can anyone else confirm if they too have this issue?
