  1. I would try the Create a Smart Tempo multitrack set from existing audio regions as explained here.
  2. Well, well! It seems that I was way off in my reply; understanding that you were looking for MIDI files to be displayed as scored partitions. On top of which I had interpreted your query about MIDI file types as a need for clarification in that domain… Oh well, that seems to be the story of my life! Anyhow, Logic is definitely the DAW per excellence to be creative. It offers tons of tools to explore uncharted grounds, those you trace yourself. Personally, I yearn aesthetically compositional process. Of course, it has to be pleasing myself first. If I reach some audience with same, there comes the extra satisfaction.
  3. Admittedly lengthy but useful to be aware of, here is some insight about MIDI and MIDI files. (No need to know everything by heart) By type of MIDI file, I (mostly) meant what data it was actually containing. Those data depends a lot on the way the MIDI file was created (and its creator’s purpose/proficiency). Therefore, depending of the way the MIDI file was created, it may not contain all the data that Logic will need to render it satisfactorily (to fulfill your specific needs). Which might (in your case) imply some adjustment(s) to achieve interesting score layout. The required adjustment(s) may range from little to extensive, sometimes none. AFAIK, that also applies to all DAWs. For the source of MIDI file types, googling "MIDI files", with descriptors to narrow the results will yield a slew of options. Some are free, others not. Quality varies a lot. I personally don’t have specific website to recommend. This website seems however promising…
  4. I wonder if that is related to Logic’s Automatic Bus Assignment? Perhaps using the patch’s merging function could help?
  5. I wonder if, before saving the patche, one would be creating a track on those busses (129 and/or 20 and/or 21)?
  6. Short answer: Yes to all of the above. Long answer: Yes. You would however have to commit to some learning, which may prove to present its curve as a steep one. However, you will find on this forum help resource to ease it. Additionally, if you intend to learn a DAW for composition purpose, Logic is also a formidable tool for same. Caveat: the type of MIDI file will dictate how Logic will display it. That also applies to all other DAWs.
  7. That might be related to the way Logic actually deals with the various elements the project is made of and how this latter had been built. This discussion on Logic User Group forum could shed some insight into Logic’s track-naming mechanics… Thank you!
  8. I’d venture that your project is on external Sync Mode. In such a case, setting it to internal should solve the issue…
  9. I think that this documentation could help you out understanding on to record MIDI data from a MIDI plugin on the track it is instantiated on…
  10. From what you wrote, I gather that you are confusing MIDI and Audio channels. MIDI channels are different from Audio channels…
  11. You would likely benefit from a dedicated course in situ with a professional or at least from a MOOC such as Berklee (There are many other as well). You will get valuable insight and advices, but from your questions, I gather that you need (way) more than what one could expect from a web forum to acquire the proficiency I guess you are yearning.
  12. AFAIR, it could also work onto another track using a different channel strip as well…
  13. As you mentioned it, it seems to be a project (default) setting like the project (default) tempo… Personally, I find this actually useful (once one is aware of same)…
  14. That’s odd… How did you manage to install / run Logic 10.8.1 on that Mac? Check Logic Pro v.10.8 minimum requirements…
