  1. It's a good point well made, but in this case I wanted to create a mono file for use elsewhere.
  2. Actually no - it's the old 'record a mic into Quicktime thing' that creates a stereo audio file with the audio on one channel. But deleting the unwanted file is a good call. Also - I have just changed Logic behaviour from saving as a Package to saving as a folder and that seems to have fixed it. Thanks for the quick reply - I was pulling my last hairs out there 🤣
  3. Hey folks I have just tried the method I used to use for this and it's not working. Here's what I tried: Copy/Convert the stereo file Choose Interleaved to Split Delete the .L and .R parts of the file name What seems to be happening is that when the renamed mono file is dragged back into Logic, the region shows the original name of the mono file (with it's .L) and automatically creates a stereo track and imports the stereo file. I could 'mono-size' the stereo track and bounce it using the Bounce button on the mixer, after switching the main out channel to mono I suppose but this seems a clumsy way to go about things. Any ideas? Thanks in advance
  4. Great suggestions folks - hadn't really thought of using these - sometimes you can't see the wood for the trees as they say..
  5. Hey folks - has anyone come across anything that can be added to Logic Pro that functions in a similar way to Montreal Assembly's Count to 5 pedal? Especially if it's got the same minimal number of controls and generative capabilities. Thanks in advance..
  6. The 'Variations' feature in GigPerformer is one way. A second way in GP involves their plugin preset naming and management system, so a couple of options. Probably get kicked out of the community now for mentioning a rival piece of software 😂
  7. nice one thanks - I have found an easier way but it does involve another piece of software, so it's good to see the script laid out as an option 🙂
  8. thanks - the preset conversion thing is good to know about, but as soon as you mentioned scripting my brain went kind of blurry.... really appreciate the information though thanks 🙂 The Keyboard Maestro approach 'works' but requires the actual arrows to be visible I guess. My only solution so far is to have multiple instances of Blackhole and switch between them which is a lot of faff for a few presets.
  9. Thanks for the replies folks. In case useful, the plugins are Eventide Blackhole and Eventide ShimmerVerb.
  10. Hi everyone - does anyone know a way to map MainStage controls to software controls that are not MIDI assignable? I have a couple of eventide plugins but neither presets nor the arrows to step through presets are MIDI assignable (unlike MainStage's plugins), but I would like to be able to map a MainStage control to step through presets for example.
  11. Thanks for the replies, all good sense - I read reports of significant fan noise and something called ‘coil whine’ with the Mac Studio M2 - just wondering if anyone has experienced this?
  12. Hi all - doubtless the answer is already somewhere on this great forum so apologies for re-asking if it is. I am getting a new Mac and looking at the following two: Mac Mini M2 Pro 32GB/1TB (10‑core CPU, 16-core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine) Mac Studio M2 Max 32GB/1TB (12‑core CPU, 30‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine) They are pretty close in price so maybe this is a simple choice, but are there any things to be aware of that might make the choice clearer? Things like fan noise, problems with Logic, Issues with 3rd party plugins and/or hardware, that sort of thing? As a subsidiary question - is it worth stumping up the extra £400 (here in the UK) for 64GB RAM in the Mac Studio? A bit over budget but if it's a deal breaker it would be good to know (I feel like it isn't as my current Mac is a 16GB i7 MBP and has no particular issues except major fan noise, and also realise it's quite a hard question to answer without specific use cases!) Thanks in advance
  13. So I am able to send MIDI tempo info from Live to MainStage so MS's tempo follows Live, but how do I ensure that beat 1 in Live matches beat 1 in MainStage?? If this was Logic I would use Ableton Link but MS doesn't support that I think, so any ideas would be great! Thanks in advance :)
