  1. OK, so I guess it's not just me. I wonder what's causing it. I suppose compensating with panning is an alright fix, but the perfectionist in me would like to get to the bottom of this...
  2. I've had the chance to use the IRs on a couple mixes and they sound really great... but I'm having a small issue. All the presets seem to output an uneven stereo signal, and I'm getting a higher level on the left channel. I've tested this by sending in a single mono channel, so it definitely seems to be a setting in Space Designer that is causing the uneven stereo output. I've worked around it by panning 8 to 15 increments to the right, but is anyone else having this issue?
  3. Yeah, thanks a ton! I was about to post something about this and found this thread. The Acoustica version of the IRs (supposedly with presets for Sample Designer) are no longer available, so your labors mean I can actually use these IRs! I was playing with the hardware version of an M7 yesterday, so I'm excited to hear how these stack up.
  4. I'm trying to use the rotary encoders (knobs) of an M-Audio Axiom keyboard to control synth parameters on a third party soft synth (specifically, IK Multimedia's SampleMoog). I thought I would be able to use Automation Quick Access, but the synth parameters I want to control (oscillators, effects, etc) are not listed as options to automate. So I guess my first question would be: is there a way to make Logic aware of additional parameters to make them available for automation? Failing that, I would be happy with controlling live. Some of the keyboard knobs automatically map to a few of the knobs on the GUI soft synth, so there is some communication going on between hardware and software. I just can't figure out how to assign my own specific map for controlling the knobs. Maybe this isn't possible with third party software? Is this possible with any Logic synths? Thanks for any thoughts. Logic Studio 9/13" Macbook Pro/2.26 GHz/4 GB/Apogee One
  5. Anyone have any experience using the Hosa MIDI to USB audio interface? I have a chance to get one on the cheap, but I want to make sure it's Mac friendly. Some stores say it's PC only, others say it works with CoreMIDI. Anybody using it out there? Thanks. --------- Macbook Pro 2.26 Ghz, 4 GB RAM, Apogee One, Logic 9
  6. My recording needs are simple in that 95% of the time I'll only be recording one track. The Apogee One (I think that's what you're referring to) looks nice, but I also definitely need a MIDI i/o. I didn't know you could daisy-chain a HD off the TC Konnekt, but I see that it has two FW ports. Good to know, but I imagine that would slow HD speed? And yes, I'll definitely be running sample instrument libraries (Synthogy Ivory, SampleMoog) from the HD, which is why I thought it might be good to take advatage of FW 800 speed. Since I'll rarely be doing multi-track recording, maybe a USB interface is the way to go, with the HD pluged into the FW 800 port...
  7. A friend just showed me this forum. It's awesome. Glad to be here... And I was hoping someone could lend some advice. Here's the deal: I have a 13" Unibody Macbook Pro, which comes with 2 USB ports and a Firewire 800. I just got Logic 9 (f*cking cool) and I'm in the market for a budget audio interface ($300 or below) that has XLR and MIDI i/o. I also plan to get a 7200 rpm external HD to store sample libraries and large session data (I may be running up to 16-20 tracks). So, my question is should I be looking for a USB or Firewire interface? There are no Firewire 800 interfaces in my price range (that I know of), so initially I thouhgt I'd go with USB. That way, at least the HD can utilize the 800 speed. But now I've found some good interfaces that are only Firewire (i.e., TC Electronic Konnekt 8), in addition to hearing that USB eats up more resources and may be noisy. If I get a 9-pin to 6-pin Firewire cord for the interface, it would mean running the HD on USB. What should I prioritize? Is Firewire interface superior to USB? Am I overestimating the importance of a fast HD, making it OK to run it on USB? Or is there a great USB interface I should be looking at? Generally, what would you do? Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks!
