  1. In the top right corner, use the Side Chain option and route the reference track into the plugin.
  2. You could disable unused plugins or instruments. Bounce midi regions in place, followed by removing or deactivating the instrument. Increase the I/O Buffer Size. Export all tracks as audio files and import into new project. Change Plug-In Latency Compensation to Audio and Software Instrument Tracks or Off. Unarm the selected track for recording (the red R) edit- removed RAM suggestion as you should have plenty
  3. You could skip the flex editing, and hold down the Option key when you go to resize a region. Holding the Option key and resizing the region will actually speed up/slow down the region to reflect the new size, rather than cut or extend the region audio.
  4. Well, prior to Mountian Lion you could try these steps to see if it is, in fact, related to your processor or kernel. But since 10.8 has removed the 32-bit kernel, it's a bit hard to do when limited to homebrew sources. Have you created a test user account and tried opening a project?
  5. Is this issue happening on one particular track? Or one particular project? Or all projects? If it's just one track, does the issue still happen if you change the output of that track to Stereo Out and turning on Low Latency Mode?
  6. Try the noise gate again, this time with the Attack set to 2-8 ms, and the Release set to the time LESS THAN when the ghost notes hit. It will vary on the speed of the music, and be sure to set the Threshold to just below only the notes you want heard. A compressor on the VCA setting can often help the higher transients stand out too, again, with a quick Attack and high Threshold on only the notes you want to hear.
  7. The arrange window reflects immediately to changing the time signature in the Transport bar where the Playhead is currently at. To change tempo in arrange window requires opening the Global Signature Track, like ski describes. Alternative to both is opening up your Lists.
  8. As far as your first question, I suggest reading this page. Towards the top it says "DAE plug-ins will not be converted, they are not compatible with Core Audio." Your second question, well, interleaved vs split, I tend to like working with mono tracks better, but alternatively, you could send both split channels to a bus and add plugins from there.
  9. Oh my. Yes, all is good now. Odd, I never touched that, and it had never been an issue before. Thank you
  10. My results are it was on. Turned off I get no monitor in playback. Turned on, same thing. If it is off- I hit play- turn Software Monitoring on while playing- then I can hear myself during playback..
  11. I'm having issues hearing the input while Logic is in playback. I'm using the line-in on both computers. Input monitoring is fine when paused/stopped, and during recording, but not playback. For some reason I recall this being available in previous versions of Logic prior to 9.1.3. It's very useful and have found myself playing less because I can't monitor input while Logic is playing, making it difficult to hear what I'm playing in context. I've troubleshooted as best I can using different computers, new HD, and reinstalls, but I suppose I could try earlier versions, albeit a workaround. Any thoughts are appreciated
  12. Try verifying or repairing the Drive using Disk Utility. Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility, and select the drive, then on the right of the window you will see the option to Verify or Repair. Also might be a good idea to make an empty project template where the Recording Preferences are set to the second drive by default, before it asks for a new project title/path in new projects. Hope it works out.. edit for clarity
  13. Thank you! The vocals in Opeth definitely sound really good, maybe I'll try and polish the track closer to that.
