  1. Sooperlooper is pretty great - and way easier to get mapped than loopback if you need more than one loop, and who doesn't? Somehow I've not subscribed to this thread, but I have a video showing how to use SL in mainstage. http://www.audiopropellor.com/mainstage-and-sooperlooper/ . You have to sign up for free though. The author of sooperlooper is awesome and will make improvements sometimes when requested!
  2. I have some mainstage tutorials at http://www.audiopropellor.com . Hope you check them out. I have a series on using the loop back plugin, but you can learn quite a bit in that hour! Some people just like being 'taught' instead of reading - go figure!
  3. Yes, good warning! You can also lose bounces if they were added to the bin. I used to just let a band record all of their takes into one big song and mix that, but now I've changed my ways. One benefit of having separate songs is that you can actually clean up files as shown here. Ever since you could import track settings, I've stopped doing this at all - there is really no reason now.
  4. I re-exported the video using imovie and then logic was able to process it. May not be a solution of other folks, but it got me going trading videos to the director.
  5. Yeah, that part seemed to be the key part - the rest of it wasn't for my scenario, but good to know anyway. Thanks for the great help guys.
  6. Thanks for that searchphrase. Still I don't understand why the audio is being compessed and expanded when I haven't chosen a quantization amount on the region or project.
  7. 1. Tapped a midi note to the beat 2. Beat mapped the song to that midi beat as quarter notes. 3. Did flex actions The q button is not mentioned in the manual, but it seems you have to select at least one track to be analyzed at the 'master', which would be a snare or kick drum in a drum set. So see the q button, you need to configure the track headers and select it to be shown. I have 3 guitar mics in a group with 'edit' selected, so all flex actions should effect the group. Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned the beat mapping - I didn't do it in another song and I'm seeing the same behaviour. BUT, I did use the same template to start out the song. Thanks!
  8. Hi, I activated flex view and chose polyphonic mode for a group of 3 audio regions. They are not quantized and the entire project is also set to quantize = 'off'. I have one track selected at the Q - which I can't find a description of in the manual - but when using drums it seems to use that to try to find the beat. I'm doing some guitar editing, so it doesn't seem vital anyway, just thought I'd mention it in case it's important. When I activate a flex mode, all my audio is then stretched and white quantize lines are placed in the audio region. I simply want to be able to create my own flex markers and tweak a couple spots - and it seems like it's trying to quantize the whole region. Anyone know how I can stop the madness?? I've also tapped out a tempo and then beat mapped that - also, should seem like it would matter, but I'll mention it anyway. One other thing - if I deactivate the flex mode, the audio region is then thrown way out of time and undoing the changes doesn't work either, causing me to have to revert to an old version. Seems like a bug to me. Thanks!
  9. How do you send the output of a midi region to a transformer?
  10. Hello, what do you think about group ? Just for playback it's ok, but when we group LoopBack and PlayBack, it's not the same. Crash systematic. you tested ? Thank you, J.Mdad I don't know what you mean by "Group" - could you explain?
  11. Thanks for the kind words. You're listening to the 'selected tracks' album. Click on the full album on the right for the full thing.
  12. Hey Man, I've used mainstage quite a bit for live looping. If you want to switch back and forth between verse and chorus, ableton is easier, but it can be done with mainstage. You will just need to have double the number of loopers running and somehow mute and hit record on the others...if you know what I mean. I have some videos of me messing in both programs up here: http://vimeo.com/user372630/videos Most are improv, so they won't be approaching a polished performance you probably have in mind for yourself
  13. Hi there, Recently, I compiled my last two years of playing with mainstage and more recently ableton live's looper into a somewhat cohesive album. The tracks are very short and don't yearn for perfection - they just capture a few moments of musical bliss that I found. Some might say it's similar to Aphex Twin (but lighter) or Mum (but no songs). There are a few logic tracks in there, but most was done in mainstage using loopbacks and internal instruments/guitar performed live. I used a korg nanopad to control effects on the drums - the xy pad is awesome for controlling parameters and turning off and on filters. Used ultrabeat with some patterns for most of the drums - you'll notice some common drum sounds on some of the tracks. All the chosen tracks were dropped in ableton and then 'crossfaded' and once again effected with ableton filters, eq's and some granular synthesis effects to aid in transitions. The album can be streamed here. Individual tracks can be downloaded for free. http://samsquarewave.bandcamp.com/ Thanks for listening Sam
  14. The manual is pretty limited and doesn't explain everything - very annoying.
